Jeden letzten Donnerstag im Monat treffen wir uns an der ETH Zürich zu Talks über UX, Usability und Interaction Design – von 18.30 bis 20.00 Uhr. Danach lassen wir den Abend bei Getränken und/oder Pizza ausklingen. Alle mit Interesse an UX sind willkommen.

Join us every last Thursday of the month at ETH Zurich for talks on UX, usability, and interaction design from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Afterwards, we wrap up the evening over drinks and/or pizza. Everyone interested in UX is welcome!

Responsible Design — Going Beyond UCD for Better Technology
CHN - Room CHN E 46 – 70 Plätze, Universitätstrasse 16, Zürich, CHBeing a UX Designer means advocating for our users — and attempting to design solutions that work well for them. And that entails to use a variety of user-centred design methods.
Besides User Centered Design (UCD) being at the center of Product Design, we, as individuals and as a society, are increasingly confronted with harms of technology. "Users" worldwide suffer from addiction and stress, experience exclusion or feel alienated through technology.
What is actually going wrong?
In this talk, we want to outline the problem, but above all, we dare to talk about possible solutions. We would like to present a design framework for UX practitioners on responsible design—with a collection of methods and principles. This is an attempt and hopefully inspiration for all UX practitioners to question more in our everyday UX work.
About the speakers
Benedikt Merz is a UX professional with over 13 years of experience. Drawing on his background in psychology and human-computer interaction he has worked in various sectors and roles. He is passionate about the intersection of UX Research & Conceptual Design, and exploring new design approaches.
Andreas Wolters has an academic background in Psychology and Cognitive Science and has been working as a User Experience Researcher and Designer for more than 10 years. After various positions in London and the Netherlands, Andreas founded Studio Llama together with Benedikt.
Studio Llama is a UX Research and Design collective from Zürich. We bring psychology and anthropology together and live user experience design that puts people in focus. As a studio, we want to reflect on our discipline and advocate for responsibility in digital design.
