About us
Life is an adventure & play is a human need!
Thieves Run events are designed to foster a safe space for post education adults and people who like fun. Formerly #HeyLouisville, our community of adventurers are invited to engage in the events at Thieves Run (1501 Story Avenue). Right now we're focusing on expanding from our a weekly D&D Night (Wednesdays) to spread the energy around the rest of the week. We hope to see you at the next event!
At this time, all Thieves Run events are 18+ unless specifically stated otherwise in the event description. If you're interested in an event designed for a younger crowd, reach out and let's see what we can do!
Accounts that sign up for multiple events but don't show up and don't respond to messages may be removed.
STAY SAFE. HAVE FUN. H*CK YEAH.

A Butchertown Halloween
Thieves Run, 1501 Story Ave, Louisville, KY 40206, USA, Louisville, KY, US# A Butchertown Halloween
Hello there! Our first paid TTRPG event is coming up!
## Saturday, October 31st
We have four main offerings, and we're leaving 2 tables up for grabs for members to run stuff as usual...
- Den: Jack will be running Strahd Must Die from 9pm until 1am!
...and if you thought that was intense...
- Sanctum: Abbie will be running Crypt of the Devil Lich from Noon to Midnight! It'll be running in two 6 hour segments, and each segment will have its own ticket. You can purchase both tickets and ride along on this epic half day adventure, but for folks who just want to play in a single segment, they'll be able to pass characters between segments.
- Guild Hall: Cali and Ryan will be running Dread and 10 Candles, respectively, in the Guild Hall from 7pm-10:30pm. 2 tables remain available for pop-up member use.
## Eventbrite
We are testing out Eventbrite as a way to handle ticket sales as well as an additional way to advertise. Here's the link! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-butchertown-halloween-at-thieves-run-registration-2002678475230
Registering to this Meetup Event will do nothing, so we are turning off RSVPs as this Meetup Event is merely advertisement!

D&D Night
Thieves Run, 1501 Story Avenue, Louisville, KY, USJoin up with the Awry Guild for a beginner-friendly, open campaign and hangout!
Always wanted to try D&D but the stars never aligned? You've come to the right place! We'll meet at a public location and play a one-off adventure (no homework required, just a quick-and-easy quest explanation at the beginning of the adventure). We recommend bringing dice and your phone/some technology with internet connection capabilities!
If you already have significant experience with D&D or TTRPGs and want to check us out, our event has birthed an adjacent community that runs several tables alongside the main event with open seats every week!
What can you expect?
- Someone to walk you through how the night usually goes, the community expectations, and a good table to play at
- Character pregens so you don't have to do any homework before you show up (and sometimes an option to quickly create your own character sheet)
- A GM for whom bringing on new players is a normal and frequent occurrence
- A community of players who enjoy the hobby & enjoy welcoming beginners to the space
About the Venue
Thieves Run is a third space designed to build community around the play of games like Dungeons & Dragons.Parking
There is a beautiful parking lot next door to Thieves Run that White Clay is letting us use with permission after 6pm on weekdays.
- The street parking on Adams Street right next to us, we recently learned, is a hot spot for semitrucks to take the turn from Story to Adams either too wide or not wide enough, so parking close to the intersection of Story and Adams is legal but risky.
- There is pretty plentiful street parking nearby, and there is also a park with a parking lot that's maybe a minute walk away.
Provision! (Food & Drink)
We're working towards increasing our food options while remaining compliant with all local rules and regulations, so at this time we are able to offer concession style snacks, drinks, and sustenance. Is there an event fee?
There is no fee to play at this event, and there is no purchase or membership required for participation.Projected Timeline
5:30-6:30 (Pregaming) | How to be a GM / Meet the GMs / Ask Questions
6:30 | Arrival, Saying Hello, Finding the Group, Soft Start Time
6:30-7 | Flex time: if there are newcomers, this time can be used for introductions between players, explanations of rules and character sheets, and a preview of what the night will look like. If someone wants to create a new character or level up their current one, this is the time to do so. If everyone is ready to go from the start, gameplay can start right away.
7-9 | Gameplay
9-9:30ish | Session Wrap-up (if you need to leave earlier, no worries)Miscellaneous Notes
- By default, public Thieves Run events are 18+ events
- Meetup messenger does not send me notifications, so day-of messages or comments will likely not be seen by me until after the event (the best way to contact me is through Discord, you can follow this link and @cali in the bothering-cali channel: https://discord.gg/8474B3ManD)
- Strictly speaking, we don’t typically play D&D 5e or 5.5e (GMs run various other TTRPGs) but since the general public thinks all TTRPGs are types of D&D, we advertise as a D&D Night so as to not scare away newcomers with “TTRPG Night”
