Ari Aster directs this modern Western, set during the Covid outbreak and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone and Pedo Pascal. The sheriff of a small town and the local mayor clash over an upcoming local election. With murder in the air, and tensions rising there could be explosive consequences
Sorry, Baby
A directorial debut from Eva Victor. Agnes is an English literature professor at a college in the middle of nowhere. Her friend Lydie comes to visit after having moved to New York. Whilst Lydie's life seems to be moving forward, Agnes is somewhat rudderless and stuck...Something bad happened to her and the event and repercussions have disrupted the trajectory of her life, can she get 'on course' again?
Caught Stealing
Darren Aronofsky returns to direct this crime caper with Austin Butker, Zoe Kravitz and Matt Smith. New York in the 90s, and a failed baseball player, Hank, now scrapes a living as a bartender. His neighbour, a British punk rocker asks him to feed his cat for a few days. However Matt discovers something he shouldn’t have and has now unwittingly angered the cities criminal gangs!
Highest 2 Lowest (Apple TV)
Spike Lee directs Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright in this modern remix of Kurosawa’s ‘High and Low’. New York, and a self made wealthy music mogul has worked his way up to being master of all he surveys. However when his son is kidnapped he finds himself out of control for once and having to go back to the streets he left behind a long time ago.
Materialists
A realist rom-com about the minefield of 21st century dating. Lucy is a dating matchmaker in New York, however seeing the shallow, materialistic nature of modern love she vows to not get involved herself. However her head is turned not only by a wealthy bachelor, but a chance reunion with her beloved (and kinda broke) ex. Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans star
Together
This meta romantic body horror has received rave reviews. Alison Brie and Dave Franco (a real life couple) play Millie and Tim, a couple who move out to the country in the next chapter of their lives. However their relationship is starting to run out of steam, but a turn of events will ensure they’ll definitely be ‘sticking together’!
