Strictly Social 50+

Come along and join us in All Bar One for a good old fashioned Beetle Drive.

To cover the cost of the group fee and CASH PRIZES, there will be a charge of £2. Please pay this into the group account at least 48 hours before the event. You can message me (Wendy) if you require the account details.

For those who’ve never been to a Beetle Drive, Beetle is a game where you have to draw a beetle in parts. The part drawn is decided by the roll of a die. You need a 6 to start, which allows you to draw the body. No other parts can be drawn without a body. Once you have the body, you can add the head, legs and tail. However you must have the head before you can add the eyes and the antenna. A complete beetle will have a body (throw a 6), a head (throw a 5), a tail (throw a 4), 6 legs (throw 6 x 3), 2 antenna (throw 2 x 2) and 2 eyes (throw 2 x 1).

In our Beetle Drive 6 rounds of the game will be played. The players are in groups of four with a communal die, and the first player to complete a drawing of a beetle shouts out "Beetle!" stopping the play of all the groups. Everyone then counts up their score for that round. You score 6 for the body, 5 for the head, 4 for the tail, 3 for each leg, 2 for each antenna and 1 for each eye. A complete beetle will have a score of 39.

Then the winner of each particular group (the player with the most points in that group) and the loser of each group (the player with the least points) will both move to the next table moving clockwise. Each player keeps a note of their score for each round. The ultimate winner is the person with the highest overall score.

This is a real fun event with quite a few laughs, so why not come along and join us for a game of 10 pin bowling.
Looking for more after bowling? How about a game of air hockey or pool! Or why not settle down for a coffee and chat .... with something to eat if you're peckish.
Concession cost (60+) for one game of bowling is £3.89 + £1 group fee.
Prepayment is required into our account ASAP to allow for advance booking. Please message me (Margaret) if you require bank details.
Please remember not to pay if I have advised you I am holding a credit for you.

All Bar One have very kindly reserved their upstairs area for our exclusive use. It is an airy space with plenty of room for us to spread out while socialising. So why not come along and join us at the monthly Meet and Greet for the Strictly Social meet-up group. Become a Socialite and join our friendly, welcoming group for an evening of brilliant banter, fun and laughter.

We know it can be daunting meeting lots of new people, so this is the ideal first meeting for new members, who can be guaranteed a warm, friendly welcome. Feel free to pop in and see us before joining the group.

The Meet and Greet will kick off around 7 o’clock. Drinks need to be bought downstairs as the upstairs bar is not open.

As you know, we ask for a £1 donation at each event to cover the costs of running the group. It would be appreciated if members had a £1 coin handy for this as it is often difficult to find change.
