What we’re about
Come Ride With Us! The Spokane Bicycle Club is a recreational and social organization that promotes lifelong cycling for fun and health. Group rides range from leisurely 10-mile social rides to longer fitness and endurance rides, as well as occasional multi-day tours. Some rides are urban and some are in the wider Inland Northwest around Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. We offer monthly meetings showcasing cycling adventures and innovation, and we advocate for safe cycling through sponsoring and supporting cycle-positive events and activities. More about our club can be found at: www.spokanebicycleclub.org. Start Time: Meet 8:45 for 9:00 AM rollout
Meeting Location/Address: Finch Arboretum S F St, Spokane, WA 99224
Distance: 51 miles
Pace: 12 – 15 mph cruising speed on flats
Terrain: One sustained climb, otherwise typical ups and downs found in these parts ; one mile of gravel road; total elevation gain +/- 2000 ft.
Route Description: From the arboretum we will take the Rosamond Ave bridge into the Sunset Hills, making our way through housing, trees and fields to Flint. A short ride on W Trails, which we'll exit at Deno (unless people want to play the slots at Northern Quest).
There’s a one-mile gravel stretch of Deno, so if you can run 28 mm or wider tires you’ll be more comfortable (although regular skinny tires have managed). We’ll make a few rights and lefts to explore a pleasant area of Airway Heights away from the main drag.
We cross Hwy 2 and continue on scenic Brooks Road into Medical Lake, where there are facilities. We'll continue along Silver Lake and in between Granite and Willow lakes, then into Cheney via the rolling farmland hills of Betz Rd. Then the traditional stop at the Mason Jar. We'll finish up with a mostly car-free soft pedal along the Fish Lake Trail back to the start unless the group chooses a different route.

(Rescheduled from June 15th) Be prepared for a bit of a ramble this time as we ride to the Avista Dam in Falls Park in Post Falls, ID then get off or our bikes in several places and check out what is left of the Corbin Irrigation Ditch. Constructed starting in 1899 as part of a flour mill canal, the ditch originated at a head gate located on the Spokane River in the town of Post Falls, Idaho. From there it snaked through 34 miles at a constant grade and then on to 54 miles of lateral canals. There are still bits and pieces of it visible if you know where to look.
