
What we’re about
We are a social walking club based in Sheffield aimed at people in their 20s and 30s. The group has been around since July 2002 and has been growing steadily ever since – currently we have around 200 members! We are part of the Ramblers, Britain's largest walking charity.
We're always on the lookout for new members, so please book on to a walk or social, or come along to one of our monthly New Members' Nights.

Being a Ramblers affiliated group we encourage our participants to join the Ramblers Association. This allows you to attend our great weekends away and get other Ramblers benefits. It also helps support the great work that Ramblers do to keep the countryside open to all and to fight for the things that matter most to walkers. We have walks of varying lengths every weekend in the Peak District or the South Yorkshire countryside.
We have an active Socials programme ranging from meals out and cinema trips to dancing and pool championships, not to mention a Easter Egg, Pub Hunt and a Christmas Party every year. There's something for everyone!
We organise weekends away to beautiful locations across the UK such as Snowdonia, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. They're a great opportunity to see some of the most picturesque parts of the country and take a break from work and the city for a very reasonable price.
We’re a Ramblers group run by volunteers who we rely on to keep it going. There are lots of ways to get involved, so if you’d like to lead a walk, organise a social or join the committee, we’d love to hear from you!

Starting from Wetton, we head towards Ecton, taking a short loop up towards Hulme End and the little visitor centre there via a section of the Manifold way. We then head back along the River Manifold, stopping for tea if we fancy (or ‘not tea’ if you are a true Asguardian) at Wetton Mill. Finally, saving the grand finale to the last and, hopefully, least populated time of day, we go to Thors cave before heading back to the Royal Oak at Wetton for a drink worthy of a warrior!Living up to the name, this will be a fairly fast-paced walk (requiring a good level of fitness).

It’s heather time! Let’s go and enjoy the pinks and purples up above H(e)athersage on Eyam Moor. We’ll head up and up through the bracken and heather, and all the way up to William Hill trig point for a lunch stop with a view. From William Hill, we’ll make our way back down with views over Bretton Clough, then down through the woodlands to Hathersage to a pub for a well-earned refreshing drink.Public transport or car sharing options:
- 272 bus departs Sheffield Interchange at 10:30 and arrives in Hathersage for 11:10.
- The 11:15 train from Sheffield arrives in Hathersage at 11:34.Those of us getting the bus will walk to the station to meet those getting the train as it’s on the same route. If you’re driving, please offer lifts in the Meetup comments, and meet us in one of the two places listed above.

We will meet at the Summer House Sheffield, possibly earlier for a lunch or drinks, then we will depart at 1pm. We ascend at Beauchief, meet the deers at Ladies Spring Wood, then cross through Chancet Wood and Graves Park. Exiting the park, we walk along Hemsworth Road and have a break at The Water Tower Pub. Crossing Lees Hall Wood we arrive at Heeley and walking its street we arrive at The Sheaf View which has a nice garden to rest. The end time includes some time in the pub.Public transport or car sharing options:
There's a train from Sheffield station at 12:14, heading Manchester, its first stop is Dore & Totley. Otherwise, buses 97 and 98 come in this direction. From The Sheaf View there's a bus stop at a 2-minute walk away, where there are buses towards the centre and Woodseats/Norton.
With a car you can park at The Sheaf View, it's a short walk to get to Abbeydale Road where you can get a bus 97 or 98 to get to the starting point.Be prepared:
