About the SF Conservatory of Music’s Roots, Jazz, and American Music (RJAM) Department
Roots, Jazz, and American Music is a first-of-its-kind program that links a world-class music conservatory to an award-winning jazz concert venue at SFJAZZ. A program for undergraduate and postgraduate students that takes a holistic view of jazz from its inception to its current status, RJAM prepares the next generation of great jazz artists by engaging students in an innovative model of apprenticeship with all-star faculty, including members of the SFJAZZ Collective. Students in the RJAM program have the opportunity to perform in multiple venues in the Bay Area, and to collaborate and learn from some of the top jazz artists on the concert circuit today.

The 2025 film Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is a biographical musical drama that chronicles the conception of Springsteen's 1982 album Nebraska, which was recorded on a 4-track recorder in his New Jersey bedroom. Nebraska, a stark, solo, acoustic album, is widely lauded as one of Springsteen's most enduring and influential works, celebrated for its dark lyrical content and raw, intimate sound.

Directed by Scott Cooper, starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, and based on Warren Zanes' 2023 book Deliver Me from Nowhere.

Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" is a visually stunning, yet tender film centered around Victor, a painfully awkward young man who is about to be entered into an arranged marriage by his parents, The Van Dort's, wealthy fishmongers who aspire to a higher status in life. Victor is to marry Victoria, the daughter of the Everglot's, a couple with great status but who are nearly destitute, and despite the obvious quirks and dreadful dynamics of the two sets of parents we find out that these two young people actually do have quite the spark about them.

Unfortunately, Victor has a horrible time at the rehearsal and can't remember his vows...leading him off into the woods where, while practicing, he inadvertently puts the wedding ring on the Corpse Bride, a young woman who was murdered on her wedding day for her parent's money.

The brilliance of "Corpse Bride" is in its acceptance of its characters. The three core characters, Emily, Victor and Victoria are sympathetic, authentic, and caught in a rather awkward situation that only Tim Burton could truly present.
