What we’re about
We’re a group of search & AI enthusiasts committed to sharing knowledge, tips & tricks, cool tools and techniques. We’ll cover a wide range of search technologies, from OpenSearch to Solr, Weaviate to Vespa - and our talks will be informative and useful, not just product pitches. The rise of AI has changed the world of search - so we want to know how it might solve some of our oldest problems, from data quality to query understanding to conversational interfaces. We’d love to hear about how you used search & AI to solve real business problems, create entirely new ways to access information and supercharge your business. Topics covered at our events will include how to measure & evaluate search & AI applications, indexing techniques, search engine operations, relevance tuning, site search, enterprise search, e-commerce search, scaling, RAG & other generative AI but also old-school search … anything cool, anything interesting, anything Search!

October Search & AI with Depop and more
Depop, 20 Farringdon Rd, London, GBRoll into autumn with another Search & AI Meetup! We're hosted this time by Depop. The event will start at 6.30pm and finish by 9pm, with food and drinks available. This will be an in-person event (but we will try to record the talks and share the videos later).
Our first talk will come from our hosts Depop: "Putting taste at the heart of Depop's search; Personalising at scale" given by Hamza Wahid (Search engineer) and Adam Stapleton (Senior Staff Product Manager):
"Search at Depop isn’t just about matching words — it’s about understanding taste. In this talk, we’ll share how we reframed broad searches as a recommendation problem, using embeddings trained on user–item interactions to deliver highly personalised results. We’ll cover how Depop’s marketplace data powers these embeddings, how we integrated them into our search ranking pipeline, and the engineering challenges of deploying such a system at scale."Second talk to be confirmed.
We'll also make time for Q&A on all things search and AI and some general networking. As the nights draw in come to our cosy Search Meetup, organised by The Search Juggler, OpenSearch and Eliatra.
