What we’re about
A group for people who try to improve their software development skills.
This is the place to
• Improve our coding skills with dojos (we are not focusing on any particular languages)
• Improve our team/soft skills by talking about techniques or playing "agile games"
• Improve our architecture skills with architectural katas and interesting talks
What we try to avoid:
• Learning about current trending frameworks/technologies (there are better places to learn e.g. about Angular X.Y.)
• Discuss benefits of several programming languages (every language has its strength and weaknesses)
• Talking about products, startups, business ideas
Also listed under the Softwerkskammer, on our GitHub profile and as an official Association in Austria under the name of "Software Craft und Testing Community Salzburg - Verein zur Förderung professioneller Software Entwicklung in Österreich"

Code Review Kata: Practice, Reflect, Improve
Want to get better at giving and receiving code reviews? In this session, we’ll dive into the art of reviewing code in a hands-on and collaborative way. What will we do?
You’ll work in pairs through several short sessions. Each will challenge you to think from a different perspective – as a developer submitting code, as a reviewer giving feedback, and as a recipient learning from the comments.
We’ll use an existing codebase to simulate real-world review scenarios. You might be implementing a feature and submitting a PR, reviewing AI-generated pull requests, or tweaking AI review tools to better reflect your team’s feedback style. As always the focus will be on learning through doing, discussing, and iterating. What to bring
- Curiosity about what makes a great code review
- Openness to share and learn with a partner
- Your laptop, with a prepared dev environment in a language of your choice (e.g. Java, C#, Typescript, Kotlin, C++, JavaScript or Go)
Everyone is welcome
No matter your level – whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned dev – there’s something to gain from practicing thoughtful, constructive code reviews. Why a Coding Dojo?
This session follows the Coding Dojo philosophy – a safe space to improve your skills through repetition, reflection, and feedback.
