Hello World! Salt City Data Community is an organization open to all individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of the data field. Our organizers are located in Syracuse NY but the majority of our events are virtual and available to all who would like to join. We look forward to getting to know you as the community grows!

Group Tenants:
1. Equity: We strive to promote and provide equity within the industry and through all our initiatives
2. Education: We promote the value of education and training to increase data literacy
3. Collaboration: We understand the need for collaboration to continue pushing the data industry forward and provide space for that collaboration wherever possible
4. Safety: We secure this space as a place free of harassment and hate. This will be enforced and those unwilling to adhere will be asked to return when they will be compliant.

For a few years about 80% of the population had the opportunity to work remotely (in the US closer to 90%). Some liked it, some hated it, and some wanted a balance. While there have been some earlier vocal advocates, the true call for a return to work came from Jamie Diamond in February 2025 when he called on the entirety of JP Morgan staff to be back in office. Working from home most of the time is the best situation for some. Full time in the office is best for others. And hybrid with the flexibility to chose your own adventure is the best for most. Come chat about your favorite policy, how you like to work, and how it has impacted your physical and mental health!
