We are finally hiking Potato Chip rock! :)
Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 20 min to complete, according to All Trails. We are hiking out and back for approximately 7 miles (7ish total), with a little over 2,000' elevation gain. (This is more than Monserate, so not only are we increasing our distance, but we are also challenging ourselves more.)
Please bring plenty of water and snacks. The Mount Woodson Trail is very exposed, so it is highly recommended that you bring plenty of water and sunscreen and turn around once you are halfway through your water supply.
We are hiking from the Lake Poway side of Potato Chip rock. Lake Poway Recreation Office charges $10.00 for parking on the weekends (cash or card). If you would like to carpool, we can meet at Running Center at 6:00 am. Please let me know if you want to carpool when you rsvp. I can fit 5 people in my car. It takes approximately 45 minutes to get there from Running Center. The time allotted for this event (7 am to 11:30 am) does not include drive time.
We will start our hike at 7:05, giving an extra few minutes for late comers.
