Hi Team,
Many people are amazed at a holiday celebrated in USA called Halloween. Halloween is celebrated every year on October 31 .
The holiday has roots in an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain (pronounced "SOW-in"), celebrated more than 2,000 years ago in parts of what are now Ireland and Britain.
The Celts marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. They believed that the boundary between the living and the dead became thinner during this time. People lit bonfires and participated in rituals associated with the changing seasons.
Later, Christian traditions influenced the holiday. November 1 became known as All Saints' Day, and October 31 was called All Hallows' Eve, which eventually became Halloween.
Irish and Scottish immigrants brought Halloween customs to America during the 19th century. Over time, Halloween evolved into a largely secular celebration featuring costumes, candy, decorations, parties, and neighborhood activities.
