What we’re about
'Portland by Night (and Day too)' welcomes you! We are an open social group and everyone is welcome.
Learn about our group and our policies: Click on 'Read More' . . .
Please note that all new members are required to read our 'POLICIES' and answer the questions when you join.
We have a new policy that attendance at each event is at the discretion of the host(s) of that event. Everyone (including organizers and hosts) have the right to have a fun time in a safe, supportive, friendly environment! (2023)
PBN offers a wide variety of events and locations that can help you get out of the house, do something you enjoy and make some new friends! We are an easy-going, open minded group. Everyone is welcome. This group is totally inclusive and tolerant regardless of AGE, sex, gender, ethnicity or political leanings.
These are some simple guidelines to keep this fun and fair for all: please remember that the organizers and hosts are volunteers and that all of us want to have pleasant experiences!
BASIC GROUP RULES AND GUIDELINES:
- This is a social group, not a singles group. Please keep that in mind at all events and keep it friendly. Social events are a great way to meet new people and develop new relationships. Please feel free to bring friends, spouses and partners to all events where guests are allowed, if they are included in your RSVP.
- Please keep all conversations and interactions friendly. This means we would prefer to keep politics out of the conversations as they do not mix well with alcohol. Sports talk is encouraged, and some events will revolve around some sporting events. Again, please keep it civil.
- Please refrain from gossip and bad-mouthing either at meetup events or in the 'comments' section of the event. If there is an issue with another person in the group you are welcome to contact any of the organizers. If you have issue with an organizer or event host please bring it to the head organizer through the 'messages' tab on the group main page.
- Since many events involve alcohol, please drink responsibly. Please use public transportation, Lyft/Uber or designated drivers. The organizer(s) take(s) no responsibility for your behavior and are not liable for any repercussions or legal issues resulting from such behavior.
- PLEASE POST A PHOTO OF YOURSELF. We like your dog/cat/horse/lobster, but we request you post a photo of yourself so that we can identify you at event. Profiles with fake photos will be deleted.
- Feel free to take and upload photos after events. Please be civil and do not post inappropriate or explicit photos on our site or any other social media site.
- Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This includes aggression, sexual inappropriateness, bad language, not paying your share or just being a jerk. These types of behavior will result in immediate expulsion and banning from the group. You are all adults and should know what 'Bad behavior' is.
- There is no 'Merchandising' or 'Self promotion' allowed withing the group. Your profile should not include links to your business nor should your profile name be a 'DBA'.
Organizers will not be hosting Meetups and get togethers for monetary gain or profit. There are plenty of other social media sites to promote you business. - 'NO SHOW' POLICY (Posted April 2, 2021)
We are establishing a 'NO SHOW' policy for the 'Portland By Night' Meetup Group. We feel this is necessary for a couple of reasons.
First, we are growing as a group (600 members) and we now have many members who attend regularly. No-shows have not been a problem because all our events have been outdoors for several months and group size has not been a problem.
Second, as the cities open to limited capacity, we will be adding more meetups in intimate settings. We will still focus primarily on outdoor events until the population gets vaccinated and we return to a more normal activity schedule.
Meetups have a group size limit for a reason. The organizer of the event will determine what the maximum attendance level is for safety and comfort reasons. We also must limit attendance size for restaurants and happy hours for obvious reasons.
For this reason, we are establishing and publishing our 'NO SHOW' policy which takes effect immediately.
PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE 'NO SHOW' POLICY and all other group rules. Thank you.
*******************************************************************************************************************
Each member is responsible for maintaining their own 'RSVP' status. If your plans change, please modify your RSVP so that someone else can take you place.
People on the waiting list are automatically moved to 'GOING' when someone moves off the 'Going’ list. If you are on the waiting list, you are responsible for monitoring your RSVP status.
All members are responsible for monitoring their RSVP status prior to the event, especially in the 24 hrs. before the event.
This is extremely important because some meetup events require us to make a reservation for a maximum amount of people. A 'no show' means an empty spot.
Please send a Private Message (via the Meetup APP or the web version) to the organizer if you cannot attend.

Hey! It’s great to meet you. We are 207 Connect, a group creating real-life dating experiences here in Portland, Maine.
If you are feeling burned out by dating apps, you are not alone. Endless swiping, rising subscription costs, ghosting, and profiles that do not feel genuine can make the whole process exhausting. Approaching someone in public can also feel intimidating when you have no idea if they are single or even open to meeting someone.
This is exactly what a singles mixer is designed for. A mixer creates a relaxed and low-pressure environment where everyone in the room is single, open to meeting new people, and here for the same reason you are: connection. There is no awkward guessing. Instead, you get to meet genuine people face to face, spark real conversations, and see where things naturally go.
If you are ready to meet someone, welcome to our first Singles Mixer of 2026: Single and Ready to Mingle.

💌 New Match Card for Easy Connections
🔎 Full Transparency on Gender and Age Ratios
🪪 Updated and Improved Name Tags
We have made several exciting updates for our 40s + mixer to make it even easier to meet your person. We have fully reserved the Ocean Gateway, a premium oceanfront venue in Downtown Portland with a capacity of 800 standing, but have limited attendance to 300 to ensure you have space to talk, move comfortably, and mingle.
We have also invested in brand new software that allows attendees to complete a quick 5-minute compatibility form. At the event, you will receive a list of people you are most compatible with. The software also lets you “like” people, and the day after the event, you will receive an email if you and someone else mutually matched. You will receive an email a week before the event to complete the matchmaking form.
Finally, at the event, we will have ten tables dedicated to fun, easy to learn games to break up small talk! Game examples are Jenga, Uno, and easy, fun card games!
To increase transparency, we post weekly updates of the gender and age ratios for each event on Instagram so you always know what to expect.
Do not just take our word for it. If you are still hesitant, a total of 240 people attended our sold-out September 2025 mixer, Screw the Apps, showing that Portland is ready for real-life dating events. 89% of attendees said they saw someone they were attracted to, and only 1% said they would not come back.
