I created this group in the spirit of discussing the Ideas of the day with the intention of finding a common path and voice forward for all of us in these interesting times. Is that something that you would like to part of? come join me in the journey of exploration of us.

Dinner and discussion: "Nationalism vs Globalism - The Identity of a Culture"
The Goody, 75 Goodwood Road, Goodwood, AU"Nationalism vs Globalism - The Identity of a Culture"
“Something we cannot see protects us from something we do not understand. The thing we cannot see is culture, in its intrapsychic or internal manifestation. The thing we do not understand is the chaos that gave rise to culture. If the structure of culture is disrupted, unwittingly, chaos returns. We will do anything — anything — to defend ourselves against that return.”
― Jordan B. Peterson, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of BeliefIt seems in recent times there has been an unusual amount of unrest in nations with the finger pointed at the open immigration policies of certain nations and also other nations perhaps going the opposite and exhibiting almost zero tolerance of "Illegal Immigrants or Aliens"
A common thread of discussion is that the nations are losing their Identity, their culture is being eroded away or disrupted to a point of destabilisation, uncertainty and the original occupants feeling like they no longer belong.
This is not a new phenomena in history, cultures have invaded each other and travellers have long migrated, traded with and lived within other cultures since it was possible to do it. However as technology allows it and we have now reached a virtual global economy, it has made the flux of humankind far more easy to achieve and nations and cultures are being disrupted like never before.
In this discussion we will be discussing;
- Have we progressed to far with our open borders policies in regard to national identities
- How far can a culture go before it becomes permanently disrupted/destabilised
- Is this a necessary stepping stone to becoming a global culture?
These and many other points are on the table for what will be a fascinating discussion about what looks to be a struggle for our local communities and indeed our global communities hearts and cultures, are they mutually attainable and maintainable?
