Gather round, my children, and let me tell you a tale.

Imagine, if you will, a time before dating apps.

Before social media soft launches, there were TRL music video premieres.

Before read receipts, there were notes folded into impossible little triangles.

Before sliding into DMs, there was the sacred art of dialing your crush’s house and praying their dad did not answer the phone.

Before we were trying to impress strangers on the internet, there were songs so powerful they could make an entire room stop pretending to be cool and immediately do the Macarena.

The dream of the 90s is alive in Portland, and it is waiting for us upstairs at Lola’s Room.

It is time for giant video screens, classic music videos, big nostalgia, and the songs that somehow still live rent-free in the part of your brain that forgot your passwords but remembers every word to “No Scrubs.”

The official event starts at 9:00pm, but our Meetup group will gather at 8:00pm downstairs at Ringler’s Pub so people can say hi, find the group, and get warmed up before the dancing starts. I’ll bring glow sticks so we can locate each other and look just festive enough to make excellent life choices.

Expect music from TLC, Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Beastie Boys, Salt-N-Pepa, Biggie, Spice Girls, Outkast, and plenty more.

Come ready for music videos, school-dance flashbacks, group singalongs, joyful nostalgia, questionable dance moves, and at least one song that makes the entire room collectively remember who we used to be.

Wear your favorite 90s outfit, something sparkly, something grunge, something sporty, something that would have looked right at home in a Delia’s catalog, or whatever makes you feel like you just got the slow-motion entrance in a 90s teen movie.

No costume required. No dance experience needed. Just bring yourself, your nostalgia, and a willingness to dance in public to songs we absolutely still know by heart.

This is meant to be a fun, low-pressure night out with other singles who believe the correct response to 90s nostalgia is to dance about it together.

• Ringler’s Pub and Lola’s Room are both located inside the Crystal Ballroom building at 1332 W Burnside St, Portland, OR 97209

Come soak up one of Portland’s favorite summer traditions with us!

We’ll spend the afternoon wandering the Hawthorne Street Fair, checking out local artists and makers, grabbing tasty food, enjoying the live music, and seeing where the day takes us. It’s the perfect excuse to get outside, explore one of Portland’s most iconic neighborhoods, and make some new connections along the way.

This is a casual, go-with-the-flow kind of event. Stop to browse a booth that catches your eye, grab lunch with a few people, or strike up a conversation with someone new. There’s no schedule once we’re inside—just good company and a fun afternoon exploring together.

Plan for the day

🕥 10:45-11:15 AM: Meet outside the SE 30th Avenue entrance to the fair.

The fair officially opens at 11:00 AM, so we’ll have about 30 minutes for everyone to arrive, say hello, and form a group. Around 11:15 AM, we’ll head into the fair together.

🎨 11:15 AM-2:00 PM: Wander the street fair!

You’re welcome to stay longer if you’re having fun, but I’ll likely head home in the early afternoon.

Absolutely! If you can’t make the morning meetup, feel free to join us later. Just post a message in the event chat, and someone will help point you in the right direction.

Since we’ll be exploring at our own pace, it may take a little time to connect with the group, and we likely won’t all stay together as one big group the entire afternoon. People will naturally branch off as they browse, eat, and explore—and that’s part of the fun!

What to bring

• Comfortable walking shoes
• Sunscreen / Hat / Water Bottle (it’s August!)
• Spending money if you’d like to shop or grab something delicious to eat

We're going to focus on three tables of between 6-8 people at each. We have tables reserved on the back patio! But if it’s 88+ degrees we will probably cancel.
