Outdoor Adventure Friends

We will be doing a fast but fun hike at Valley Forge. Note the new Start Time of 5:30. With the later start time, we won't wait as long, so please try to be on time. This week we'll get in about 5 - 6 miles and 800 – 1000ft of elevation gain at a decent pace (apprx. 3.0-3.3 mph) Moderate - Advanced level, along the trails of Mt Joy and Mt. Misery.

Best to wear hiking boots or trail running shoes as we'll be on dirt trails with rocks and tree roots, not paved paths.

Definitely recommend hydrating before the hike and bring plenty of water and a snack.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a static length leash at all times.

**Meet at 6pm with 6:15pm SHARP departure**

This weeks "weekly night hike" will take us through the trails in the Schuylkill Center- very cool nature center before a small loop into the Wissahickon Park. The Schuylkill Center is a little hidden gem on the NW outskirts of the city. After taking in the many sights the SC has to offer, we will cut through an Andorra neighborhood to hit Wissahickon park for a bit.

We will keep a moderate+ pace (approximately 3.2-3.5mph average) and go about 6.75 miles. Elevation around 800 feet. Not a beginner hike, but not as hardcore as some of my other hikes.

Gear required: hiking footwear as there will be plenty of rocks and roots and HEADLAMPS as we will run out of daylight before hike is over.

Light rain or shine event. Heavy rain or storms will cancel.

PARKING AND MEETING LOCATION: We will meet at the corner of Brierdale Rd and Cathedral Rd, side closest to the shopping center parking lot (see Meetup location Pin). There is parking on plenty of parking on Cathedral Rd.

This week we will hike the Mill Valley and Rolling Hill Park. Nice little section tucked away in Gladwyne with beautiful scenery. Expect a couple hills climbs, but nothing too difficult. This is not a beginner hike, but not one of my advanced hikes. We will keep an average moderate pace between 3.2- 3.5 mph.

Friendly, well behaved dogs ok. Just comment in event comments section so others know in case of allergies, fear of dogs, etc...

GEAR REQUIRED: hiking footwear as there will be plenty of rocks, roots and slippery conditions. Headlamp for night hikes. Food and water as needed.
PARKING AND MEETING LOCATION: We will gather at Flat Rock Park located on River Rd in Gladwyne. There are two parking lots, so make sure you choose the lot closest to Mill Creek Rd. Clicking on event Pin should take you to exact spot. Don't type in address listed.
