Session Abstract
### Guardians of the Data Galaxy: Securing SQL Server the Right Way
SQL Server security isn’t a single feature — it’s a layered strategy. In this 200‑level session, we’ll walk through SQL Server’s full security stack from the outside in, starting with physical and network boundaries and moving all the way to encryption, permissions, auditing, and row‑level security. You’ll learn how each layer contributes to a defense‑in‑depth model, how attackers typically try to bypass weak configurations, and which built‑in SQL Server features can close those gaps quickly. Whether you manage production workloads, support developers, or design data platforms, this session will give you a clear roadmap for securing SQL Server environments with practical, real‑world guidance you can apply immediately.
*Please note, that we will be using Microsoft Teams for the online portion of this meeting. You may want to join a few minutes early to ensure you do not have any issues. If you are attending in person, there are large TVs at the office, and you do not need to bring a laptop or use Teams.
