It was sad to hear the closure of Line 51 Brewing. Sunday, July 19 will not only be the 2026 World Cup Final Game, but it is also the final day of operation for Line 51. They have been good to us since 2020 (the days that we were once East Bay Beer Runners -- Candie remembers that deeply). They went the extra mile to support us. Unless there was a major sporting event or special occasion, Line 51 would NOT open on Tuesday nights. They did for us, and we are forever appreciative and thankful for their support for our group. We wanted to squeeze in one more visit to Line 51. It's a weekend run for our last visit to Line 51, and we don't expect to have a big OBR crowd. But, feel free to join us for this Saturday (July 18) -- get an afternoon run in, have some Line 51 brews and food, maybe stay a little bit to enjoy the penultimate 2026 World Cup soccer match, and reminisce the wonderful memories we've had from this Jack London spot.
NOTE: ***NO DOGS are allowed inside of the brewery.*** Let's respect this request from Line 51 Brewing.
We will meet at Line 51's taproom in Jack London Square. We will run a 5k or ~3.8-miler to Brooklyn Basin, and we will return to the taproom for drinks and food (hot dogs likely, plus there may be a food truck vendor in addition -- TBA). PLEASE NOTE -- there will be a few other non-OBR parties inside the taproom, and Line 51 will be showing the 2026 World Cup 3rd Place game (scheduled at 2:00pm that day). So, expect a heavy crowd inside the Line 51 taproom on their final weekend.
Although the meeting time is at 12:00pm, we won't start the actual run until 12:10pm-ish.
Like many places in Oakland, there are car break-ins in the area, and so, please DO NOT leave anything in your car to tempt the thieves. More than likely, we'll have someone watching our stuff at Line 51 while we're running -- though, tables will be first come, first serve upon opening. The taproom is located 1 mile from either West Oakland OR 12th St BART stations, and there is bike parking inside the taproom.
Like all runs, we will do our best to prevent people from getting lost (verbal directions are often provided beforehand and/or QR code with directions is printed), and we are very flexible when it comes to pace and distance. All levels of running and drinking experience are welcome!
