Hike and Beer Garden - Estabrook Park (Saturday July 11th)
Estabrook Park Beer Garden, 4610 Estabrook Pkwy, Milwaukee, WI, USHello everyone!
Our hikes this summer have been going great! Our past hikes have brought out around 40 people, and about half of those attending were coming to their first event with the group. Most people come alone but leave having met a lot of new people.
This Saturday, let’s meet up for a 2-mile hike at Estabrook Park in Milwaukee.
The plan is to meet at 2:00 PM. We will meet near the Bublr bike location, and I will update the event later this week with more specific directions so everyone knows exactly where to go.
There is a parking lot right where we will meet, so parking and finding the group should be pretty easy.
The hike will be medium difficulty. No worries if you are not a regular “hiker,” but we will go through the woods a bit, so comfortable shoes are a good idea.Come alone, bring a friend, or bring your dog! It should be a good time, and I hope to see you there.
Note: Each hike has had people of all ages (low 20s to 60s). I doubt anyone has felt left out.

Sunday Meditation with Shambhala Center at Humboldt Park + Possible Social After
HUMBOLDT PARK, 3000 S HOWELL AVE, Milwaukee, WI, USIf you were to ask my family, friends, or students to describe me, the word “Zen,” or any adjective close to it, would probably not come up.
So, to help relax my mind, I recently started going to the Milwaukee Shambhala Center. It has been a process for me, but I am starting to see some benefits.
One cool twice-monthly event the center hosts is called Summer Sit in the Park, where people meet as a group and practice meditation. These events are open to everyone. As they describe it: “Whether you're a beginner or a longtime practitioner, all are welcome.”
So let’s go to one as a group on Sunday, July 12 at Humboldt Park.
The session starts at 12:00 noon with directions, a short reading, and meditation, so let’s plan to meet a little earlier at 11:45 AM.
Depending on the number of people who sign up, I have some ideas for a nearby place where we can meet socially afterward, but I can figure that out as the event gets closer.
For now, just sign up here, and I will let the meditation leader know how many people to expect.
Message below or text me with any questions. Note: You probably want to bring a blanket, pillow, or chair (many people prefer to sit for flexibility reasons).
Hope to see you there!

Game Night! (Meet, Drinks, Food in Reserved Room)
Red Rock Saloon, 1225 N Water St, Milwaukee, WI, USCome join NewFriendsMKE for a night of games, socializing, drinks, food, and more!
This is one of our most popular events and a great event for new people. Whether you’re brand new to the group or have been to several events before, this is a fun and easy way to meet people in a relaxed setting.
To help break the ice, we’ll have games like Giant Connect Four, Giant Jenga, Cards Against Humanity, Apples to Apples, Operation, and many more.
We will have our own reserved area on the entire second floor of Red Rock on Water St., along with our own bartender.
This event usually brings a great mix of regular NewFriendsMKE members and people attending for the first time.A few things to know:
- Red Rock has a great food menu if you want to order dinner or snacks.
- You do not have to arrive right at 7:00. We are usually there until around midnight.
- If you are new, it is completely okay to show up alone! We all had a first event at some point, and this group is full of welcoming people who are there for the same reason: to meet new people.
- I will have plenty of games, but feel free to bring one of your own to share.
- We will be easy to find. We have the upstairs area reserved. When you enter Red Rock, turn left and head upstairs.
This is a free event!
Want to support NewFriendsMKE? While our events are free to attend, there are still costs involved in keeping the group active and organizing events like this. Donations help with things like Meetup fees, supplies, games, event materials, and other group expenses. If you would like to contribute, you can donate through Venmo: NewFriendsMKE or PayPal: [NewFriendsMKE@gmail.com](mailto:NewFriendsMKE@gmail.com).
Donations are always appreciated but never required. The most important thing is that people feel welcome and have a good time.If you have any questions, please let me know.
I will provide updates as the date approaches.
Thank you!
