From October 9 to 11, 2026, Go Short returns to Focus for a weekend full of top-level short films.
In collaboration with Focus Filmtheater, the festival presents a selection of the best short films from home and abroad. From regional talents to Oscar winners. Expect surprising, urgent, and moving stories, as well as a varied program for both audience and filmmakers.

On October 9th, two blocks of short films will be screened: Oscar Shorts and Late Night Sci-Fi. It is possible to attend one or both screenings.

Oscar Shorts: 19.30 (Dutch Subtitles)
Compilation program with a mix of Oscar-nominated animation, fiction, and documentary films.
Every year, the Academy Awards ceremony takes place in Hollywood, and the Oscars are presented to Best Picture, actors, directors, screenplays, costume designers, you name it! If you ask Go Short, the most important Oscars you can win are, of course, those in the short film categories. Haven't seen them yet? No worries! Synopsis:
Yellow Letters is an inventive and topical drama by director Ilker Çatak ( Das Lehrerzimmer ). Although the film is set in Turkey, Berlin (for Ankara) and Hamburg (for Istanbul) were used as filming locations. By using Germany as a location, Çatak shows that (self-)censorship and state control do not stop at the border.
The marriage of celebrated actress Derya (Özgü Namal) and director and teacher Aziz (Tansu Biçer) comes under strain after they lose their jobs due to arbitrary state action. They move to Istanbul to live with Aziz's parents. She and their 13-year-old daughter must reshape their lives. Derya receives an attractive offer and Aziz finds a job. But is there still room for their principles and free speech? Yellow Letters won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
