Michigan Gamemakers by The Beacon

Welcome to the Michigan Gamemakers Meetup! This group is for anyone in Michigan who is passionate about real-world game development and excited to connect with others who share their interests. Whether you are an experienced gamemaker or just starting out, this is the perfect place to collaborate, learn, and grow as a game maker.

This meetup is connected to The Beacon, a platform dedicated to creating large-scale live gaming experiences. Our events aim to blend immersive storytelling, physical challenges, puzzles, and social strategy to create games that unfold in the real world with 50–200+ players at a time.

One of the projects currently being developed is Borderland, a live competitive experience inspired by shows like Alice in Borderland and Squid Game. These games require a lot of creative minds — from designing challenges and testing mechanics to helping run events.

Members of this group will have opportunities to:
• Help design and prototype real-world games
• Playtest experimental game concepts
• Volunteer or collaborate on large live experiences
• Meet other creative people interested in interactive experiences
