What we’re about

Do you get bored working out alone? Do you feel like you thrive in a partner or team environment? Well look no further! The goal of this group is to connect those seeking friends to get/stay fit with. I'm American Council on Exercise(ACE) certified for group fitness instruction and hold a 200 hr yoga teacher training(YTT) certification (currently working on my 500 hour YTT). I would love to host public classes once or twice a week(to start), likely at a library or rec center. I'll also host runs several times a week and hikes 1-2 times a month, however the main goal is to get you group members involved in leading your fitness journey by posting whenever you want a fit buddy to run/workout with or sharing fitness events you plan to attend. I hope this can be an encouraging and motivating community where we all support each other's fitness and health journeys!

Sunday Hike with Mike!

Sunday Hike with Mike!

Alta Ski Resort, 10010 E Little Cottonwood Canyon Road, Alta, UT, US

Mike goes on long hikes every Sunday and has invited the group to join!

This is what he's said about it "...it will likely be snowing, though probably not too heavily, and the mountain should have received some snow around Friday. The Sugarloaf is my go-to peak under such conditions before or after the ski season, when they close the approaches to uphill traffic. This may be the last chance to summit an easy 11k footer in the Wasatch until spring. The easiest route follows a ski trail most of the time so you see plenty of backcountry skiers but the last slopes give you a great winter ascent feel with minimal risk. Warm winter gear and trekking poles are necessary and snowshoes or skins would help if the snow is deep. If anyone wants to join me you're most welcome! It should be a ~4 hour hike out and back, depending on the rhythm and the snow. Any brand of aluminum snowshoes works. I spent years using a second hand pair that my wife got at a DI store. But I've done the Sugarloaf under blizzard conditions with just boots and gaiters."

Be sure to RSVP and reach out to Mike if you have any questions!

Edit (Mike): The weather forecast is trending better for Sunday so it may end up being a beautiful day in the Wasatch with at least some sunshine over the recently fallen snow blanket.

Edit 2 Wednesday (Mike): The forecast keeps changing and now it looks like it will be snowing on Sunday. Who knows what this voluble Pacific storm will end up doing but it's best to prepare for a proper winter ascent with waterproof gear and gaiters or ski pants.

Meeting point: Alta ski parking lot in front of Snowpine Lodge at 9am.
