TLDR Notes: Please make sure to buy the ticket to the "Open Rehearsal" event on 5/9/25 (link at bottom). There are two Brahms' Requiem events, if it asks you to select your seat you picked the wrong date. Event is unlikely to sell out but it's recommended you purchase tickets online as we are not sure if they allow purchase at the door. We will meet in the Vet lobby before heading to our seats.
Hey everyone!! So this year we've decided to aim to host at least one arts related event per month in addition to our normal meetups. We figured it's a good way to mix things up and throw some support to the local arts community. These events may require tickets, but don't worry we'll still be hosting our usual bar events where we typically avoid covers. Keep an eye out for these arts focused events and please forward Eddie anything interesting you may stumble on :) You'll save him time scouring the internet lol
This will likely be the first of two events we'll be hosting this weekend. We're posting this up a little ahead of time since it's a ticketed event. If classical music isn't your thing, keep an eye out for one of our typical bar night event likely on Saturday.
Our last event with the RI Philharmonic sounded like it was a hit, so let's do it again! This time they are hosting an open rehearsal for their upcoming rendition of Brahms' Requiem. Just like the last rehearsal we attended, tickets are only $20.00 and it's open seating so we can sit together. We'll meet in the lobby fifteen minutes before the show starts before we head off to our seats together. If you come late or struggle to find parking, don't worry we'll post our seat location in the comments. Since this is a rehearsal the dress code is casual, so don't worry you don't have to dress to the nines. Even the orchestra will likely be rocking jeans.
Tickets can be purchased at the link at the bottom of the post. Please make sure you select the 5/9/25 "Open Rehearsal" event. Do not select the actual formal performance on the following day. If the website asks you select your seat you have picked the wrong date.
While this is a rehearsal, the orchestra is very much show ready, so you will get a similar performance for a fraction of the price. There is a slight chance the conductor may pause the performance to replay a section or go back after the piece to put a bit of polish on a certain segment. It's actually pretty interesting to see an elite orchestra fine tune their performance. Depending on the conductor they may talk to the audience to give them a background on what is going on.
The concession stands should be open for anyone who wants a snack or a drink. They should have beer and wine, and maybe canned cocktails. We'll likely sit towards the back, so we can chit chat quietly in our seats, but please be respectful of anyone around us. After the show we'll likely walk over to a nearby bar. I know last time we walked to Track 15, so if the weather is nice we can do it again if the group wants both food and drinks.
Please reach out to the host(s) if you have any questions. Hope to see everyone then!
