We're going hiking again! On Saturday 19th of July we're going for a beautiful forest walk of around 8 km starting and ending at Maarn train station. Put on your hiking shoes and enjoy a refreshing summer walk through the peaceful Kaapse Bossen (Landgoed Huis te Maarn) and the charming estate of Landgoed Maarsbergen.
Utrecht Hiking Community regularly organises social hikes in and around Utrecht that are open to everyone. Many expats join our walks, as well as some locals of all ages. We're not about hiking fast, but about enjoying nature, being active, and meeting like-minded people from all over the world.
We’re planning to start our hike from Maarn train station at 10:35 AM. We’ll be waiting for you outside the station, on the little square right in front of the 'Het kleine bakkertje' coffee stand. We'll wait for the 10:33 AM train to arrive (departing from Utrecht CS at 10:14 AM), but we won't be waiting much longer than that.
🌲 This route goes mostly through the forest, which means a cooler and more comfortable hike even on a hot summer day. There are plenty of shaded paths and unpaved trails — a lovely natural escape!
🐶 Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash during the walk.
🚻 Please note: There are no public toilets at Maarn station or anywhere along the route. Make sure to use a restroom before heading to the starting point.
🚗 Coming by car?
Please avoid the blue zone on the north side of the station (max 2-hour parking). We recommend parking on the south side of the station and highway, where there are usually more unrestricted roadside parking options.
Please bring water and maybe a snack to stay energized and hydrated. After we return to Maarn station, anyone who feels like it can join us for a drink or lunch nearby.
