Ready for something a little different?

We're heading to Anno 1900 – Steampunk Convention Luxembourg at the historic Fond-de-Gras — and this time we're not only exploring the festival, we're also planning to take the historic mining train into the old iron-ore mine! ⛏️🚂

Expect Victorian costumes, steampunk creations, live music, street entertainment, historic trains, food, drinks, an unusual underground experience — and of course plenty of time to meet new people and socialise.

## 🚆 OPTION 1 — TRAVEL WITH US FROM LUXEMBOURG CITY

If you'd like to travel together, we'll meet at:
📍 Luxembourg Central Station – Gare Centrale
🕚 11:15

👉 Inside the station, in front of the main departure boards
We'll then travel together towards Pétange and continue to Fond-de-Gras using the special Anno 1900 transport.
Our goal is to arrive at Fond-de-Gras at approximately 13:00.

⚠️ There are planned CFL timetable changes beginning on 26 September, so please check the final Meetup updates / CFL or Mobiliteit shortly before the event for the exact train we'll take.
Public transport within Luxembourg is free.

## 🎩 OPTION 2 — MEET US DIRECTLY AT FOND-DE-GRAS

If you're coming from another part of Luxembourg or prefer travelling independently, simply meet us directly there.

This will be our main meeting point for the whole group.
Please try to arrive on time because we'd like to organise the group for the mining train shortly afterwards.

# ⛏️ THE HIGHLIGHT — LET'S GO INSIDE THE MINE!

One of the most interesting activities at Anno 1900 is the historic Mining Train “Minièresbunn.”
The mining train travels from Fond-de-Gras through the historic mining area and into the old iron-ore mine, where there is a short guided visit with explanations and demonstrations.

⚠️ Reservations are NOT possible, so our plan is to arrive around 13:00 and try to get places on the 14:00 departure.
If the 14:00 train is already full, we'll simply enjoy the convention and try for one of the later departures.
💡 Bring some cash. The Anno 1900 programme states that the mining train tickets are purchased on site and reservations aren't possible.
Also remember that mines can be considerably cooler than outside, so bringing a light jacket or warmer layer and suitable shoes is a good idea.

## 🕐 OUR PLAN

11:15 – Meet at Luxembourg Central Station for those travelling together 🚆
Around 11:30 – Travel towards Pétange
Around 13:00 – Arrive at Fond-de-Gras
13:00 – Main Meetup meeting point at the Train 1900 station
13:00–13:45 – Explore a little, get mining-train tickets, grab a drink/snack and get to know each other
14:00 – 🚂⛏️ Mining Train + underground mine experience
Afterwards we'll continue exploring Anno 1900 together — performances, music, steampunk market, historic trains, food and drinks.
We'll probably stay until the late afternoon / early evening depending on what the group feels like doing.
There is no obligation to stay until the end. 😊

## ⚙️ WHAT IS ANNO 1900?

For one weekend, Fond-de-Gras transforms into a fantastic combination of industrial history, the Victorian era and an imaginary steampunk universe.
You can expect:

You do NOT need a steampunk costume to join us!
Come however you feel comfortable.
Although if you happen to own a top hat, goggles, waistcoat or something wonderfully Victorian… this is probably the perfect opportunity to use it. 😄

## 🚗 COMING BY CAR?

⚠️ Fond-de-Gras is closed to private vehicles during the convention.
If you're driving, you'll need to use one of the official P+R parking areas and take the special shuttle.
Official P+R locations include:
📍 Pétange – Carena, Rue Eucosider
📍 Niederkorn – Rue Pierre Gansen
🚌 Shuttles start from 10:30 and operate approximately every 10–15 minutes.
💶 Shuttle: €2/person
Please give yourself enough time for parking + shuttle and aim to meet us at Fond-de-Gras by 13:00.

## 🚂 TRAIN 1900

There is also the historic Train 1900, connecting Pétange with Fond-de-Gras.
It's a beautiful heritage railway using historic steam/diesel locomotives and railway cars.

This is separate from the Mining Train / Minièresbunn that actually takes us into the mine.

Join us for a beautiful autumn afternoon at the Steeseler Äppelfest in Steinsel! 🍂🍏

We’ll meet at the festival, get to know each other and head into the orchard together, where we can taste around 15 different varieties of apples and pick our favourites directly from the trees.

Freshly picked apples are a completely different experience from the usual supermarket ones — crisp, juicy, aromatic and full of flavour.

You can pick and buy as many as you like to take home, so remember to bring your own strong bag, basket or reusable shopping bag. 🧺

After the apple picking, we’ll stay together at the festival and enjoy the rest of the afternoon.
We’ll find a place to sit, eat, have some drinks, talk, laugh, meet new people and socialize while enjoying the autumn atmosphere.
So the plan is simple:

Meet new people → taste fresh apples → pick & buy your favourites → eat → drink → relax → socialize. 🍎🥂🍂
