Field Trips for Grown Ups

Interested in knowing if there is a group who would like to meet for an afternoon to do a group jigsaw puzzle? Probably at Barnes and Noble of similar venue. Please respond if you would commit to this event?

We’re heading up to Santa Fe for a full day of exploring, and this one’s got a little bit of everything.

First stop is the New Mexico History Museum. If we go on the first Sunday of the month, admission is free, so we’ll take advantage of that and spend some time walking through the history of New Mexico.

From there, we’ll check out the Loretto Chapel and its famous spiral staircase. No central support, tight turns, and a story behind it that makes it even more interesting when you see it in person.

We’ll also stop by the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi to walk the outdoor labyrinth. It’s a quiet, unique spot right in the middle of downtown. A good place to slow things down for a minute.

After that, we’ll have time to walk around, grab food, explore shops, or just hang out and enjoy Santa Fe.

Getting There:
We will be carpooling, and some may choose to ride the train up.

Easy day, lots of walking
History, architecture, and exploring
Good food and good people
Bring some cash for food and chapel admission, and just come ready for a relaxed day getting out of town.

It’s that time again.

We’ve done this a few times now and it’s always a mixed bag in the best way. Some people stick together, some branch off, some just wander and enjoy it at their own pace. That’s kind of the point.

Here’s how I run it:
I’ll be there right at the start. As people show up, we’ll hang out and let a group build. Once we’ve got a solid group, you can head in together. If you’d rather do your own thing, that works too. No pressure either way.

I usually hang around for about 30 minutes, then I’ll head in and walk around.

If you’ve been before, you already know. If you haven’t, this is a good one to try.

We’ll be heading to El Rancho de Las Golondrinas for the Santa Fe Beer & Food Festival. This is one of those events that brings everything together. Local breweries, food trucks, live music, and a chance to walk around a really cool historic spot.

It’s a laid back setup. You can sample beers, grab food, hang out in the shade, listen to music, or just explore the grounds at your own pace.

There will be plenty of vendors, local breweries, and live bands going throughout the day. It’s a good mix of relaxing and exploring.
