1. ‘World Champion of Public Speaking' Mike Carr

“Each year, thousands of Toastmasters, representing over 100 countries, battle for the title of World Champion of Public Speaking. The competition culminated at the 2020 Virtual Convention as the 28 semifinalists competed for a title that transforms lives. Mike Carr is the new World Champion of Public Speaking! Mike Carr from District 55 won with a speech titled, “The Librarian & Mrs. Montgomery!


2. International Director, Region 1 - Naomi Takeuchi, DTM

Naomi Takeuchi, DTM, of Seattle, Washington, works as a consultant for 1000 Cranes Studios, where she has worked for the last 15 years. She specializes in strategic planning and board development services, primarily for nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations. In the past, Takeuchi worked as an instructor at Duke University in their certificate program for nonprofit management. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master’s degree in business administration.


Not only does Toastmasters provide skills to gain confidence and poise in public speaking, the partnerships and friendships built through being part of this organization last for a lifetime,” she said. As a member of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Takeuchi is a “working ambassador” for the organization. She works with the Board to develop, support, and modify the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission.

TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL

Toastmasters allows people to build the skills they need to become more confident public speakers and stronger leaders in every area of their lives. Along with delivering speeches, members are asked to evaluate other member's speeches while also developing their own listening and interpersonal skills.
