About us
McHenry County Bicycle Club (MCBC) Outdoors, founded in 1981, offers year-round activities beyond cycling. We welcome all to bike, hike, and kayak in the great outdoors with us!
- Easy Riders: Short, leisurely routes.
- Intermediate Cyclists: Moderate pace, 20-40 miles.
- Fast-Paced Group: Aggressive speeds and distances.
- Trail and Gravel riding: get a full-body workout on gravel
- Kayaking: Join us on the waters 1-2 times per month.
Riding Season: Road and trail rides on weekends and weekday mornings/evenings, with email notifications sent to members. Most rides include food stops and socializing.
Kayaking: Weekend floats on the various waters from the Busse Woods to the Fox River and the Chain o' Lakes.
Seasonal Activities: After we end biking we start hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in winter. Annual events include a year-end banquet, winter picnic, and June meetings with guest speakers.
Safety: We advocate wearing helmets, maintaining bikes, and obeying traffic laws. We support Rails to Trails Conservancy, Ride Illinois, PADS, and Project Mobility.
Join us at McHenry Bicycle Club or on our Facebook page. A signed waiver is required for all events.
