Welcome to the Black Antinatalist Millennials (BAM!) meetup.
We are a community organization focused on building friendships and connections among Black childfree and antinatalist Millennials.
This is a philosophical study group for the analysis and discussion of texts regarding antinatalism and childfreedom.
Antinatalism is the philosophical position that assigns a negative value to procreation and birth. Two of the main modern justifications for antinatalism are 0) the inability to gain consent from the unborn prior to imposing birth and its attendant harms (deprivation, suffering, death) and 1) the inevitable harms said being will both endure and enact on both themselves and others. The only 100% certain way to ensure the unborn are never harmed is to never give them birth. Birth is the source of death and the suffering of life in between. Nonexistence harms none; existence harms all.
Childfreedom has to do with intentionally and voluntarily choosing to not reproduce. This benefits the childfree because they obviously have more time for relaxation, enjoyment, and self-actualization, and they can easily save money, build community (or withdraw), and live more minimally, further starving the beast of consumerism and silly status games.
