Ride the Toronto Loop (again)

Ride the Toronto Loop (again)

After a half century(!) it’s time to close The Toronto Loop. [TORONTO COMMUNITY BIKEWAYS COALITION](https://www.communitybikewaysto.ca/) is producing and leading this epic fall ride. Volunteer marshalls will support the ride. The Loop trail is an ALMOST complete 75km circuit of trails that includes the waterfront, Humber River, Finch Hydro Corridor, and Don River trails. Unfortunately, there are about ten small gaps that undermine the value of The Loop Trail for everyday/utilitarian, recreational, and tourism cyclists. The Loop Trail is part of the city's Ravine Strategy, although the gaps are all on roads. The Loop was first announced by the city in 2020, but there has been little progress -- until the launch of the TCBC advocacy campaign and ride in November 2025. You can ride with us for the full 75km, or join us at various locations. **Route will be counter clockwise to our spring Loop Ride! NEW starting location to be determined.** We expect 50+ people to ride with us! TCBC estimates 6.5 hours (I think it'll take longer) with lunch & washroom breaks so bring water, snacks, stamina, and reality if you cannot ride this ride or at a pace to keep up. CURIOUS before you sign up? **Check out Bromptoning's detailed [video](https://youtu.be/gi2p35hlsVs?si=GUXaE62vbXcgehJ7) from the spring LOOP Ride.** **CHECK** your bicycle's brakes, air, and chain prior to the day.

SAVE THE DATE for the fold-tastic event of the year! We'll begin at [Pedaal](https://www.pedaal.com/) with a beverage, meet a new friend, and a 'how fast can you fold/unfold a Brompton' contest with the absolutely wild blind-folded option and perhaps folding while standing on one leg! It's fun and there's fab prizes! The route will travel through downtown Toronto. The pace will be a slow roll as we stay together creating a Brompton Buzz! I have curated some ‘top tier’ new parks & an 18km route. Our afternoon together will conclude with a picnic at the new west end of Biidaasige Park for inspired city skyline views! This is a social, fun, and judgement free ride. Bring good vibes and plenty of smiles. Here is the [route](https://ridewithgps.com/trips/405865336?privacy_code=wMUOZmLkJJyUnu0VDtvRkxYC0NyWzmo8) from my Aug 16 pre-ride - adjustments to come when I ride it a second time to fine tune our twists & turns & folds! Our Community Rules: * Helmets are required. Lights are required if riding in darkness. (sunset 6:53 pm ish) * No one gets left behind! * Be kind and encourage others. * Welcome new experiences and people. * This space is for gathering, not for selling. 1\. # 🌿🚶‍♂️ YORK BELTLINE TRAIL & BRUNCH 🍻🌿 **A Hidden Urban Trail, Easy Walking & A Relaxing Summer Sunday** Looking for an easy way to get outside after work? Join us for a summer walk along the York Beltline Trail, one of Toronto's hidden green corridors. Built on the route of the historic Belt Line Railway, this peaceful trail offers a surprising escape from the city, with mature trees, birdsong, and plenty of shade—all just steps from the subway. This is an easy, mostly flat walk with no major hills, making it perfect for anyone who wants to stretch their legs, enjoy some fresh air, and meet new people. After our walk, we'll head over to **The Bull: A Firkin Pub** for brunch and a chance to relax, chat, and get to know one another. After all, the walk is just the beginning—the conversations afterward are where friendships often start. 📲 Don't forget to join our **WhatsApp Group – [CLICK HERE!](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc)** *** ## 🚶‍♂️ What We'll Do We'll spend about **90 minutes** walking the York Beltline Trail at a comfortable social pace. Along the way we'll enjoy one of Toronto's lesser-known walking trails, share some conversation, and unwind after the workday. When we finish, anyone who would like to is welcome to join us for brunch at **The Bull: A Firkin Pub**. You're also welcome to head home after the walk if you prefer. *** ## ☀️ Weather & Expectations This walk happens rain or shine unless severe weather makes it unsafe. The trail is mostly flat and suitable for most fitness levels. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water if it's a warm evening. This is a **social walk**, not a guided historical tour. I'll share a little history about the Beltline along the way, but the focus is on enjoying the evening together. *** ## 🧢 Meetup Details 📍 **Meetup Location:** Outside **Caledonia Station (there is only one exit)** 🫎 I'll be wearing my Moose Hat. ⏰ **Meetup Time:** **11:00 AM** I will only wait **5 minutes.** Early is on time. On time is late. Please be on time, as we will leave promptly. 🏁 **End Point:** Near Davisville Station. *** ## 🍽️ After the Walk We'll head to **The Bull: A Firkin Pub** for brunch and conversation. **Menu:** [Click Here!](https://www.firkinpubs.com/thebullandfirkin/menus/) *** ## 🎟️ Meetup Fee **$5 cash in person or e-transfer** 📧 **[mathewmaclean@hotmail.com](mailto:mathewmaclean@hotmail.com)** This fee helps support the group and allows us to continue organizing events like this. Thank you for supporting community! 💖 *** ## 🎒 What to Bring 💧 Water 👟 Comfortable walking shoes 🍽️ Money if you'd like to join us for dinner afterward. *** ## 🌈 Who Is This For? This group is open to anyone who wants to be social and make friends—whether single or not. We also host: 🎬 Movies 🚶 Walks & hikes 🎭 Arts & culture outings 🍽️ Restaurant gatherings There's always something happening. *** **REMEMBER:** You're welcome to just show up on the day if you're unsure about your schedule. Sometimes things happen and events may need to be cancelled—please keep an eye on updates. *** 👤 **Organizer:** Mathew Questions? Post on the event wall or email: 📧 **[torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com](mailto:torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com)** **Come for the trail.** **Stay for the conversation.** **Leave wondering how one of Toronto's oldest railway lines became one of its best hidden walks.** 🌿🚶‍♂️🍻
