As the level of the dancers improve, so does the figures performed become more elaborate and complicated and with the constant change of partner calls, make the dance fun and exciting for the dancers, as well as spectators who view the dance. **8.30pm – 9.30pm** **\*\*\* CLASS #3: BACHATA** *(Absolute Beginner to Improver Level)* \* No experience or partner necessary - all welcome \- Bachata is the second most popular Latin dance around the world after Salsa **CLASS COST:** Casual/Drop-in attendance: Any Main class - $20 per class Any 2 Classes on the night - $30 for both classes or Do ALL CLASSES on the night for only $35! ***\* Please note:*** We only accept **CASH** on this night **CLOTHING & SHOES:** Comfortable casual clothing. Tricky Tuesday @ The Peacock Inn

Welcome to the **Tricky Tuesday** Meet Up! This is a smaller event but still the same sized fun! Come join us to play and explore modern card games (especially trick-takers and climbing/shedding games)! It's a great chance to learn a new game and meet some new people. You can usually find us at the tables in the side room! * *This event is made possible (and kept free for all members) via the support of [Pretty Tricky Games](http://prettytrickygames.com.au). An Australian online store for niche and unique imported and indie board and card games. Some of these you will be able to experience at our events!* Bring some games to this event if you can. There are none available at the venue. I will always have some packed - feel free to search for the rules and prepare yourself to play! These regular suspects include: Skull King, Farm Hand, The Crew, Space Dragons, VIVO, and Inside Job. Please consider others when coming and in the lead up to the event. We want as many people there as possible. If you are unable to attend mark yourself as such as soon as you can so others can be notified and attend. There's an FAQ below but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Your tricky friend, Dave **FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS** **What is a trick taking game? Good question you handsome person.** * Generally speaking, a trick taking game is a card game which is played in a series of rounds known as ***tricks***. * Each trick is evaluated to determine a winner or ***taker*** of that trick and then will usually start - or ***lead*** *-* the next trick. * The goal is usually tied to either winning or losing a number of tricks. This may also come in the form of you guessing how many tricks you will win - known as a ***bid***. * Some games may have a suit that always wins - known as a ***trump***. * Most trick taking games are **competitive** needing between 3-5 players, others are **cooperative**, there are also solo and two-player trick taking games as well! * Popular trick taking/trick taking adjacent games you may have heard of: [The Crew](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/324856/the-crew-mission-deep-sea), [Skull King](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/150145/skull-king), [Cat in the Box](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/345972/cat-in-the-box-deluxe-edition), [Scout](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/291453/scout), [Fox in the Forest](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/221965/the-fox-in-the-forest), the classic games of [Spades](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/592/spades) and [Hearts](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/6887/hearts), **What makes a Trick Taking game fun?** * There's so much to trick taking games! They're generally quick to teach, quick to play, have interesting decision spaces, and a wide variety of novelty. Even the classics though can be played thousands of times without getting tiresome. Part of the fun is in the interaction with others, assessing their moves and countering them, and how to win (or lose) at the right times. You have to stay on your toes, adapt frequently, and keep tabs on the other players, what they have played, and what they may play next! **Do I need to know how to play/have played a trick taking game before?** * Not at all, but it is good to understand the basics and general terminology so you can pick things up a bit easier on the night. You can check out [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O7QyhKmCsk) for a bit of a general breakdown . **Is this event free?** * Yes, but please support the venue by purchasing a drink or two. **I'm on the waitlist can I still come?** * Unfortunately, no. We have limited capacity and must abide by it. **I don't have a game to bring, is that okay?** * Generally it will be okay, but it is encouraged to bring and share a game where you can! You can always bring a standard deck of cards or tarot cards and learn a card game or two as well! **Can I bring a guest?** * Unfortunately, unless they have signed up too it won't be possible. We have a strict limit on guests and the event would fill up too quickly otherwise. **How do I get to the venue?** * The 86 Tram is your best bet and has a stop pretty much right outside of the venue. * There are two train stations (Westgarth and Northcote) which are within walking distance. * Parking is available in the area but can get busy. If you don't mind a little walk there is parking down the adjacent street. **Dave, I worry you will win all the games we play. Such an intelligent and beautiful man, you must be a master of the tricks, is this true?** * Firstly - thank-you for the kind words, but secondly - no. I suck at trick taking games and lose more than I win. Yet, I enjoy them for their variety, high interaction, and quick nature regardless. You will be fine if you don't take things too seriously. It's about fun and meeting people... (but if you do beat me too often I will ban you from the group and venue...).

Oct 17 | True Connection: Culture & Connection | A Kismetrix Singles Night

**✨ True Connection: Culture & Connection \| A Kismetrix Singles Night at La Di Da** **Different backgrounds. Shared values. Unexpected connections.** 📍 La Di Da Melbourne CBD 📅 Saturday, 17 October 2026 🕖 from 7:00 PM (Hosted) 🥂 Welcome Drink Included on Arrival **Put down the dating apps and meet someone in real life.** Culture & Connection brings Melbourne singles together for a relaxed night of drinks, genuine conversation and unexpected connections — with people you may never otherwise have met. What if your best connection comes from somewhere you never expected? Dating can become predictable. The same apps. The same profiles. The same small talk. Sometimes even the same "type". But real chemistry doesn't always follow the plan. Sometimes it's the person you wouldn't have swiped on. Someone who grew up differently to you. Someone with another perspective on life. Someone whose family, food, traditions, travels or experiences are completely different from your own. And somehow, the conversation just… works. That's what Culture & Connection is about. A night for singles to step away from the screen, meet in real life and discover the person behind the first impression. **🌏 Different stories. More to talk about.** Culture is so much more than where someone was born. It's the food your family insists everyone eats. The traditions you grew up with. The languages you hear at home. The places you've lived. The places you want to see. Your music, humour, family, values, quirks, experiences — and all the little things that have made you who you are. At Culture & Connection, those differences aren't barriers. They're conversation starters. You might meet someone whose upbringing feels wonderfully familiar. Or someone whose world is completely different from yours. Either way, there's something to discover. **❤️ This is not speed dating.** No five-minute timer. No sitting opposite a stranger waiting for a bell. No trying to work out whether someone is a "yes" or "no" before you've even finished your drink. True Connection is about creating the space for connection to happen naturally. Arrive. Grab a drink. Settle in. Our Kismetrix hosts will be there to welcome you, make introductions and help take away that awkward "How do I walk up to someone?" feeling. We'll add a few thoughtful touches throughout the night to help conversations start — and then let chemistry do what chemistry does. **✨ Come for a good night — not an interview.** You don't need the perfect opening line. You don't need to be an extrovert. And you definitely don't need to arrive with a group. Many of our guests come on their own. That's exactly why we host the way we do. Come as you are. Meet people. Have conversations you weren't expecting. Laugh. Flirt. Discover something new about someone. And maybe find yourself wanting one conversation to continue long after the night is over. **🥂 What to expect** ✨ A relaxed, welcoming singles night at La Di Da ❤️ Real-life connection without formal speed-dating rotations 🌏 Singles from different backgrounds and life experiences 💬 Plenty of opportunities for genuine conversation 🤝 Warm Kismetrix hosts to welcome you and help make introductions 🍸 Time to mingle, move around and meet people naturally ✨ A few Kismetrix touches along the way **Who is Culture & Connection for?** Adult singles who are genuinely open to meeting someone new. You don't need to come from a particular cultural background. You don't need to speak another language. You don't need to have travelled the world. And this isn't about finding someone from — or avoiding — any particular culture. It's about being curious about the person standing in front of you. Whether you meet someone whose story feels familiar or someone completely unexpected, come with an open mind and see where the conversation takes you. Coming alone? Please do. You won't be the only one. One of the biggest reasons Kismetrix events are hosted is so you don't have to walk into a room and figure everything out by yourself. We'll welcome you. We'll help you settle in. We'll help make those first introductions. Then you take it from there. Bring a single friend if you'd like — but don't wait for someone else to be free before deciding to come. The whole point is to meet people you don't already know. One room. Many stories. One night to see what happens. You can keep swiping past hundreds of profiles. Or you can spend one Saturday night actually meeting people. Different backgrounds. Shared values. Unexpected connections. Come curious. See who you connect with. **ABOUT KISMETRIX** KISMETRIX isn't built around pressure, games, or superficial interactions.
