It is estimated that over a million Australians describe themselves as regular "voice hearers" and many more than that if you consider occasional experiences. Hearing voices can be extremely traumatic, often leading to diagnosis and treatment for serious mental health conditions. It doesn't need to be like that. I am a voice hearer who has learnt how to train my voices to be "helpful friends". The good news is that most voice hearers are able to learn to do that. I will be at the Nunawading Community Hub, meeting room 1, each Wednesday night for anyone who wants to talk about or learn more about this fascinating phenomena.
