Welcome to **I WRITE**, a gentle space for anyone who wants to write—quietly, freely, and without judgement. We are a Berlin community of writers who gather together weekly to write, talk and recharge after a long week. Some of us journal, some write novels, some do academic writing, many people come without a project in mind and see where the inspiration flow takes them. This is a space to simply show up and write, a safe place to be yourself and to release all your layers onto the paper. There’s no set topic, no feedback circle, and no pressure. Just warm people, a calm atmosphere, and time dedicated to yourself. 🗓️ **Agenda:** * 14:30 - 15:00 **→** 30 min arriving, optional socialising (arrive early, meet other writers) * 15:00 - 16:00 **→** 1 hour of silent writing (headphones welcome, focus encouraged) * 16:00–16:30 **→** 30 mins break + optional chat or solo time (stay and chat or go celebrate the rest of your Saturday) * 16:30–17:30 → 1 more hour of silent writing (for those staying) * 17:30–18:00 → 30 mins of chat, and leaving 🎒 **Bring:** * Something to write with (laptop, notebook, phone, typewriter… anything goes) * Something to drink (there is no cafeteria, unfortunately) * Your current project or a blank page * Yourself, exactly as you are **👉 Responsibility:** * Our location is limited; thus, I am kindly asking you to RSVP only if you are willing to attend. **📍Location:** * We meet at **Heinrich Schulz Library in Charlottenburg**. In the library, go look for the Gruppenraum; I will be waiting for you there. Any trouble finding the room, I will come to meet you outside. * 🚇 U7 **Richard-Wagner-Platz** * 🚌 M45 Bus **U Richard-Wagner-Platz** **About me:** Hi, my name is Anastasia. I started this writing club back in May 2025. Since then, it has been hosted weekly at the Heinrich Schulz Library (who is kind enough to allow us to use this room for free). Over this time, I’ve been privileged to meet some of the most creative and kind minds in Berlin. We have grown very very much, this community has now expanded to more organisers and more writers. And I would be happy if you joined us. Whether you're an experienced writer or just at the beginning of your journey, you're welcome. If you know how to hold a pen or how to type, there will always be a space for you. Let's write together!

I EDIT @ Iska Café: Editing Texts and Feedback from Fellow Writers

I EDIT @ Iska Café: Editing Texts and Feedback from Fellow Writers

Sun, Oct 18, 8:30 AM
From I WRITE (Silent Writing Club)

You’ve written your text. You’ve bled into the page and poured your heart into the words. *Now what?* Welcome to **I EDIT**, a peer-review space where writers trade drafts, polish rough edges, and gently perform open-heart surgery on each other’s manuscripts. **How it works:** We will match texts and editors in a direct swap (you edit your partner's text, they edit yours). That means you will read one text and get feedback on your text from one editor! You will not have to read out loud, and you will not get group feedback from everyone. - 10:30 – 10:50: arrival, socializing and starting to match-up texts to editors *Please ensure that you arrive shortly before 11, as it will be difficult to fit any late-comers into the editing pairs/groups. Thank you!* - 10:50 – 11:00: final match-up of texts, explanation of rules - 11:00 – 11:45: silent reading, commenting and editing the swapped texts (can be extended depending on the group) - short break - 11:55 – 12:30: mutual feedback, Q&A, and discussion between writer and editor - 12:30 – 13:00: silent writing to implement the feedback into your text (The last two blocks might change or flow into each other a bit, depending on the group.) **What to bring:** Please bring a text you need feedback on - **a non-academic text in English or German,** in a **sharable form** for your editor to read and annotate: printed out, or be ready to hand over your laptop/device - **with 1.000 to maximum 2.000 words** in length. You can bring multiple very short texts if they do not exceed this limit together. If you want feedback on a stand-alone scene from a larger work, a short context summary at the beginning makes sense. - think ahead on any **specific questions / topics you want feedback** on: emotional impact, characterization, pacing, tone, does the beginning hook you?, etc. - please check if your text needs **content warnings**, which we will consider when finding an editor. A content warning might sound like: “brief mention / description of explicit violence / sexual themes / self-harm / etc.” **Please bring a positive and respectful attitude:** - be prepared to give detailed and constructive feedback to a fellow writer on a text in English or German – and to receive the same - everyone edits and everyone gets edited: this is not purely a writing event - focus on substance over surface: leave typos and basic grammar to spell-checkers; use this chance to find out how your writing actually impacts a reader - some rules and examples on what good feedback sounds like will be provided, please follow them

Joining Meetup itself is free, but some writing groups may charge a fee for specific events. Always check the event details on the Meetup platform to know what's required before attending.
