Do you love reading as much as we do? Do you find yourself finishing a book and wanting to share the experience? Do you miss the student experience of reading a book and discussing the deeper meaning and implications with a group?
We meet once a month, usually in private homes where we share a delicious pot luck buffet, to discuss our latest selection. The location varies, but is generally in the Santa Monica/Westwood area. If this sounds like you, join our book club!

For August, we'll be discussing A Long Long Way by Sebastian Barry.

In 1914, Willie Dunne leaves behind Dublin, his family, and the girl he plans to marry to enlist in the Allied forces and face the Germans. There he encounters a horror of violence and gore he could not have imagined and sustains his spirit with only the words the camaraderie of the Irish boys who fight and die by his side. Willie returns to Ireland to find a world split by forces closer to home. With grace and power, Sebastian Barry vividly renders Willie’s personal struggle as well as the overwhelming consequences of war.
If you'd like to join the book discussion, please RSVP. If your plans change, please be considerate and update your RSVP. No shows will be removed from the group.
