What we’re about
LFDT Meetup groups have an informal relationship with LF Decentralized Trust and make up a key part of the LFDT ecosystem. Participation in a LFDT Meetup group is open to anyone--employees of a LFDT member company, LFDT contributors and developers, and people just passionate about distributed trust technology.

Join David Viejo from KFS for an interactive and informative session on deploying Hyperledger Fabric networks using Bevel Operator Fabric, with a special focus on integration with HashiCorp Vault. As the maintainer of Bevel Operator Fabric, David will guide you through the essentials of this powerful open-source project, explain how it automates complex deployment tasks, and discuss the advantages it brings to enterprises looking to streamline their blockchain solutions.
In this online meetup, you’ll learn how HashiCorp Vault seamlessly integrates with Bevel Operator Fabric to protect sensitive information—such as private keys and certificates—by automatically managing and rotating credentials. Best practices for securing blockchain infrastructures will be covered, along with real-world deployment scenarios and workflow improvements gained from implementing Vault. Whether you’re an experienced DevOps engineer, a blockchain enthusiast, or simply someone interested in operational security, this session will help you understand how to combine these two tools to enhance reliability and trust in distributed ledger applications.
We’ll wrap up with a Q&A to explore how this integration can fit your unique use cases. By the end of the meetup, you’ll have a clear roadmap to securely bootstrap and operate your next Hyperledger Fabric project using Bevel Operator Fabric and HashiCorp Vault.

Update: this is an online Meetup! 🌐
Through three to-the-point, insightful talks, we’ll explore practical applications of decentralized identity, zero-knowledge proofs, and privacy on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). The program features speakers from open-source projects, academia, and applied research.
19:00 - 19:10 Welcome & introduction by Howest Cyber3Lab
19:10 - 19:40 Decentralized Identity: A Simple Way to Keep Your Privacy
Renata Toktar - Lead Software Engineer and Product manager, DSR CorporationThis talk explores how distributed identity systems enable individuals to own and control their personal data, creating a safer and more transparent online experience.
By leveraging blockchain and LF Decentralized Trust technology, these systems eliminate the need for a single, centralized - and often vulnerable - data repository. The presentation will include technical insights such as:
- Practical implementation of decentralized identity systems
- Regulatory context, including eIDAS 2.0 (EUDI) and GDPR
- A technical overview of credential types and supporting protocols
Note: This talk will be delivered remotely 🌐
Renata is a specialist in Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and decentralized systems. She has been an active maintainer of Hyperledger Indy for over seven years and now leads the Indy on Besu project.
Currently, one of her key focus areas is the DSR Developer Toolkit, which streamlines the use of popular protocols and credential types in decentralized systems.Renata is also a frequent speaker at international events such as Blockchain Week, has presented at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto (FEUP), and regularly facilitates webinars on SSI and Web3 for the open-source community.
19:40 - 20:10 Real-world Applications of Zero-knowledge Proofs (ZKPs)
Ruben De Smet - Postdoctoral researcher, Vrije Universiteit BrusselZero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) are transforming privacy in decentralized systems. This talk explores real-world applications of ZKPs, from private transactions and digital identity to blockchain scalability (zk-rollups) and privacy-preserving road pricing. We'll discuss how these techniques enable trust without revealing sensitive information, making them a key tool for privacy in decentralized ecosystems.
Ruben De Smet obtained his PhD in 2024 and holds an MSc degree in Engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2018). His current research focuses on privacy-enhancing technologies, with an emphasis on online social networks leveraging zero-knowledge proofs, elliptic curves, and cryptography.
20:10 - 20:40 Advancing EVM Privacy: An Introduction to LFDT Lab Paladin
Peter Broadhurst - Co-Founder & Head of Engineering, KaleidoPaladin is a young LFDT Lab project aimed at enhancing privacy within Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) environments. Paladin offers an open-source, modular, and pluggable platform for developing programmable, privacy-preserving tokens on EVM. It supports a variety of privacy frameworks, including Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) tokens, issuer-backed tokens, and private smart contracts.
This talk shares hands-on insights into how Paladin works, its potential for enterprise and public sector use cases, and how others can get started experimenting with it. Whether you're a developer, architect, or simply privacy-curious, you'll come away with a practical understanding of what Paladin brings to the Web3 privacy landscape.
Peter Broadhurst is Co-founder and Head of Engineering at Kaleido, an award-winning blockchain, digital assets and tokenization platform. Its clients include the world’s largest banks, top asset managers, over a dozen central banks, global payments processors, next-gen FMIs, Swift, World Bank, IMF, along with 100s of enterprise networks.
Recognizing both the extraordinary promise of blockchain and the barriers to enterprise adoption, Peter helped launch Kaleido in 2017 with the mission of radically simplifying the technology to make blockchain, digital assets, and tokenization accessible to businesses and governments worldwide.
Peter brings 15 years of experience as a chief technical lead at IBM responsible for key middleware and cloud products across multiple generations of enterprise platforms. He is an active maintainer leading key open source communities such as FireFly and Paladin under the Hyperledger Foundation and Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust for the last 5 years, helping drive innovation at the intersection of blockchain and scalable enterprise systems. Peter has a computer engineering degree from the University of Southampton, UK.
