The Lancaster Bicycle Club is a recreational club for cyclists of all levels.
The Club carefully plans rides and related events such as bike-safety courses that result in self-confidence, physical fitness, and improved riding skills for cyclists. The Club also hosts numerous social events and supports bicycle-related initiatives through its grant program. The Club has awarded over $530,000 in grants since 1999.
Whether you are an experienced rider or new to bike riding, you can find a variety of suitable rides here on Lancaster Bicycle Club’s Meetup site. Rides are held year round.
Your Meetup membership does not mean you are a Lancaster Bicycle Club member. To eliminate the need for a paper waiver at the ride start, we require club membership in addition to Meetup. You can join today at [lancasterbikeclub.net. ](https://lancasterbikeclub.net)
For proper verification of membership we do not allow anonymous Meetup IDs. Please sign up with a first and last name in order for your request to join be approved.
Thank You.

Impromptu: Bike Train - York Heritage Trail, Ride & Bike 16 Miles
Heritage Rail Trail Parking (Brillhart Station), Brillhart Station, York, PA, USRide Leader: Frani More
Ride Sweep: Joanie NolinNOTE: Advance ticket purchase is required at the link below. Be sure to select the Brillhart Station to New Freedom route: https://northerncentralrailway.com/bike-abord/#
My reservation is on the South Branch Car, and you can choose any car that is to your liking. I believe you can move around to the different cars once boarded.
We will meet at the Brillhart Station parking lot no later than 12:30 in order to get bikes loaded. The train departs at 1:00 pm for a a slow, 1-1/2 to 2-hour ride where we can take in the views down to New Freedom. To avoid any scratches that might occur on your bicycle, it is recommended to bring a sheet or covering.
Bikes will be unloaded in New Freedom and if the group is interested, we will make a stop at Bonkey's for ice cream before rolling out. We will then ride the trail 16 miles back at a leisurely pace of approximately 11 mph on a slight downhill grade. While riding on the York Heritage Trail, we will pass through multiple small towns with interesting things to see, and we'll make some stops along the way.
Hybrid bikes are recommended, although I have seen road bikes on this trail. The trail is primarily crushed stone with some asphalt areas.
E-Bike Notification from Northern Central Railway: Only Class 1 E-bikes are permitted on the Heritage Rail Trail. We cannot allow any other e-bike class on our Bike Aboard excursions
Every effort will be made to keep the group together, but I know some might want to venture off on their own or ride slower/faster, which is fine to do.
Post ride food for those interested at Southern County Brewing Company, 170 Crossway Drive, York.
Helmets are mandatory; please also plan to bring 1-2 water bottles, and basic repair kit (spare tube, tire levers, pump/CO2 inflator).
