**This group is for women who live in the Lisbon metro area**
A multi-day hike along Portugal's Atlantic coast, from Peniche to Sintra.
The idea is to make it long enough to feel like a challenge, but short enough to fit into ordinary life: one week away, a light backpack, no camping equipment, and hopefully finishing with the feeling that we would like to do it again.
This is not an exercise in giving up every day comfort. The challenge is the walking and the change in routine.
Each night will have accommodation, a shared twin room and an en-suite bathroom. We'll pass several villages, so we will find something to eat and shops to buy food, water, snacks along the way.
We will carry our own small backpacks throughout the walk.

The journey
- Day 1 — Lisbon → Peniche + Berlengas (~6 km / sightseeing day)
09:30 FlixBus from Lisboa Oriente, arriving in Peniche around 10:40. Leave our backpacks at the accommodation, have lunch, then take the afternoon boat to Berlengas Nature Reserve. Return to Peniche and spend the first night there.
- Day 2 — Peniche → Praia da Areia Branca (~19 km)
The actual walking journey begins at Cabo Carvoeiro and follows the coast through Consolação, São Bernardino and Forte de Paimogo.
- Day 3 — Praia da Areia Branca → Santa Cruz (~19 km)
Coastal walking through Peralta, Porto Dinheiro, Porto Novo and the beaches approaching Santa Cruz.
- Day 4 — Santa Cruz → Ericeira (~25–26 km)
Our longest walking day, following the Atlantic north-to-south through the Foz do Sizandro, Praia da Calada, Coxos and Ribeira d'Ilhas before reaching Ericeira.
- Day 5 — Ericeira → Magoito (~14 km)
A shorter recovery day through São Julião, Samarra and the wild Sintra coastline.
- Day 6 — Magoito → Cabo da Roca (~14–15 km)
Past Praia das Maçãs, Praia Grande and Praia da Ursa, finishing at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland continental Europe.
- Day 7 — Cabo da Roca → Sintra (~19 km)
We leave the Atlantic and cross into the Sintra hills via Peninha and the forest, finishing in Sintra. Train from Sintra back to Lisbon.

- Group size: 4-6 people maximum.
- Own backpack: no luggage-transfer service; everyone carries their own lightweight belongings.
- Twin-room pairing: the accommodation cost assumes two people sharing a twin room.
- Weather flexibility: coastal routes and especially the Berlengas boat may need to change because of weather/sea conditions.
- Not a guided commercial tour: this is a self-organized group walking trip, with participants responsible for their own health, insurance and personal decisions.
If you would like to join, please RSVP and send me a short message. We can meet, get to know each other, plan some details together. Because accommodation will be booked in twin rooms and costs depend on sharing, we need firm commitments by Sept. 25.
