We have been invited to launch from the City Is Touring Kayak Club, you should drop off your boat & gear and then park in the street. I'm limiting this to 10 paddlers, please try to car pool as parking is tough even for 5 cars. Those who can car pool get priority. Please put in comments if you can carpool and where your location is. The club has bathrooms, showers, deck & a beach. Jerry B, our host, will lead the paddle. Address: 205 Beach St, City Is, NY

Please get there @ 10:15am to unload your boat. Then park in the street. We will tour the club, paddle and then return for lunch. This is an open bay so please know how to paddle with waves, wakes, wind etc and how to self/assist rescue. You should be able to paddle 10 miles in a day.

Sea kayaks must be at least 14', no SOT'S, SUP's, INFLATABLES, Surfski's OK. PFD's must be worn, no PETS. Please dress for immersion. Pack a change of clothes in a dry bag and bring it with you.

We have the option to bring lunch or order pizza, so bring some cash.

Bring water, lunch, snacks anything you need for a day trip.

This is not a Liquid Skies event, we are just letting everyone know about the parade.

The 43rd Coney Island Mermaid Parade is the largest Art Parade in the country. A celebration of ancient mythology and honky tonk rituals of the seaside. Founded in 1983, the Mermaid Parade pays tribute to a century of Coney Island ingenuity, revelry, and pageantry by celebrating the artistic vision of the masses. With everything from a crowned King Neptune and Queen Mermaid, fantastical sea creatures and mer-folk, marching bands and dancing groups, mechanized floats, it showcases the creativity of individuals from the city and beyond.

The parade starts at 1pm. The King and Queen are crowned at 4:00 pm. Feel free to dress up as a mermaid/man or sea creature.

The parade will start at West 21st St & Surf Ave, it continues to W 10th St and turns south towards the boardwalk. At the boardwalk marchers and push-pull floats will turn west and head towards W 17th St. At Steeplechase Plaza, the parade will disband. There is dancing on the boardwalk later in the day after the crowning.

Get there early to get your spot.

This is a very special trip for wine lovers with a limited # of participants. We'll explore both the scenic kayaking of the NY Canal System and the wines of the Finger Lakes. We'll stay at a historic Victorian home in downtown Geneva and each day, we'll paddle part of the canals and sample wines from a different local Finger Lakes winery. We will also dine at local restaurants and explore the charming downtown area of Geneva, which sits right on Seneca Lake. Participants will paddle part of the Erie Canal and the entire Cayuga-Seneca Canal, including paddling through several of the canal locks. This trip is designed to be beginner kayaker friendly with lower mileage per day. Its a relaxed trip. We will need to shuttle cars each day. I do have limited availablility of rental kayaks and gear for the trip.

Cost: $600 single, $800 double occupancy.

Day 1 - Arrive, optional wine tasting & lunch at a winery TBD, (cost not included in trip), Dinner at the house (included).
Day 2 - Paddle from May's Pt (Erie Canal) to Lock CS approx. 6 miles. Return to house, get cleaned up, then wine tasting at a winery TBD. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 3 - Paddle CS1 to Waterloo approx. 8.5 miles. Back to the house, get cleaned up. Wine tasting at the house and dinner TBD.
Day 4 - Paddle Waterloo to Geneva approx. 7 miles. Back to house, get cleaned up. Wine tasting at the house. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Please join Randi and Rob, as well as Todd Wright for a Maine adventure. We are returning to the mid-coast for the first time since 2018. Really looking forward to it.
