Please attend this important event to give back to Mother Nature with a clean-up for Earthday 2025 . I will supply trash bags and some disposable gloves as we clean up this beautiful waterway. We will have to take the trash home with us after as their is no can at the launch.

Please get there early to be ready to be in the water at 11:00 am. The Hackensack resembles a bayou more than a river and has been known to be teaming with large snapping turtles, fish mating near the surface and lots of birds.

All size kayaks over 10', canoes, SOT's, surfski's are welcome for this clean-up run and you may want to bring work gloves to pick up trash. This cleanup will be re-registered with Riverkeeper and American Rivers for Earth Day. We will take photos and enter them for consideration to be published.

Please DO NOT BLOCK THE LAUNCH SITE unload your boat quickly, and park in the street on both sides, then you can carry/organize your gear and change into your appropriate clothes - dry/wet suits, skins. Dress for immersion not the air temps, pack a change of clothes in a dry bag, with a polar fleece jacket. Bring lunch, snacks, water and whatever you need to be comfortable for a day trip. PFD's MUST be worn at all times. You should know how to assist and/or self-rescue.

Please leave your pets at home.

Please only sign up if you are definitely attending. Those that don't show w/o canceling in advance will be put on a waitlist for future events.

Notice time change to launch at 10:30 am!

Please get there early enough to unload, park and use the restroom. We are in the water at 10:30am. This is an open bay so please know how to paddle with waves, wakes, wind etc and how to self/assist rescue.

We have been invited to the City Island Touring Kayak Club to have our lunch and a tour with Jerry. They have a lovely beach, deck, kitchen, kayak storage, lockers, bathrooms & showers. After, we can decide to circ City Is or go between City & Hart on our way back. Approximate distance 10+.

Sea kayaks must be at least 14 ft, no SOT'S, INFLATABLES, Surfski's OK. Please know how to assist/self rescue. PFD's must be worn, no PETS.
Please dress for immersion. Its still early in the season so please pack a change of clothes in a dry bag and bring with you. Dry/wet suits/skins highly recommended.

AFTER YOU GO THROUGH THE PARKING PAY STATION GO LEFT the at the end of the lot towards the exit for the kayak launch. Unload your boat and then park or bring wheels. The bathrooms are by the boardwalk (straight back in the parking lot to the right of the playground) go there 1st after entering and then proceed to the launch area. The beach doesn't officially open until May 27 so parking will be free.

Bring water, lunch, snacks anything you need for a day trip.

Launching from Annsville at 12:15 pm, please get there early to get yourself ready. Hi tide is 2:53 pm, 2.3', Low tide is 8:58 pm, .5' so we will have an assist on the way up & back.

This paddle shows the beauty of the Hudson River as we go north under the Bear Mt. bridge, Popolopen Suspension bridge and the bridge over Rt 9W. There may still be a waterfall at the end of the creek. Remember when going under the Popolopen Suspension bridge go thru the LAST trestle as there are obstructions under the others and you could snag.

Approximate distance to be covered 9.5 - 10 miles on this trip. No rentals available for this trip - you must have your own kayak and equipment.

We will have lunch at the creek and if time permits we can walk to the Bear Mt. zoo.

Kayaks must be 14' minimum, no SOT's, Inflatables; surf ski's OK. You should know how to assist/self rescue and be able to paddle 10 miles at a pace. Everyone is responsible for themselves.

The Hudson can get choppy at times, know your limitations. PFD's must be fastened and worn at all times on the water, skirts highly recommended. Bring water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, whatever you need for a full day trip on the water. Pack a change of clothes, windbreaker, etc in a dry bag. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

If you haven't paddled with us this year, please sign a waiver. No dogs allowed on Liquid Skies trips. Leave your pets at home.

Wappinger Creek is one of our favorite paddling locations. Unfortunately, it does get littered with plastic containers and other litter of all sorts. Paddlers are closest to the water, so who else will pick up the floating trash? No one. Its up to us. So, please come out for this service project.

Boats of all kinds welcome. If you do not have a boat, you can pick up litter at the vest pocket park at the launch. If you know how to paddle but do not have a boat, contact the leader. He may be able to loan you a canoe. PFD's must be worn properly while on the water. Bring water shoes, boating gear, lunch and water. Wear clothes that can either get wet or somewhat dirty.

We'll meet at 10 am and work until 2 pm, then retire to the Obercreek Brewery in Hughsonville for refreshments and socializing. I expect that each volunteer will get a coupon for a free brew. Please reply to Russ so that he knows who will be coming.
