Connect Bern is a community that runs real events you'll actually want to go to: language exchanges 🗣️, shared dinners 🍝, hikes 🥾, board-game nights 🎲, and more. Every one is shaped around what people here genuinely feel like doing, and run by locals, in a relaxed setting where turning up on your own is completely normal and starting a conversation is easy.
You won't meet anyone through a screen here. You meet them across a table, on a trail, mid-conversation. And the connections tend to outlast the evening.

Gemeinsam statt einsam
Bibliothek Länggasse, Vereinsweg 27, Bern, CHAn open meeting point in the Bibliothek Länggasse for games, knitting, chatting, reading, storytelling and crafts. Young or old, alone, with friends or as a family, everyone is welcome. It runs Thursdays 15:00 to 18:00, but only during the library's opening hours.
Meeting people is easy. Seeing them again is the hard part. That's the part we work on.

Board Game Meetup at Erupt
Erupt, Parkterrasse 14, Grosse Schanze, Bern, CHErupt runs this one themselves, on the third floor. Connect just cross-posts it.
It runs every second Thursday from 18:00. The shelf is the point: staff will pull something short off it and teach it to the table in about five minutes, so arriving alone having never played anything is the normal way to turn up rather than a problem to apologise for.
Free, and Erupt waives its usual CHF 10 table fee for this evening.

Deutsche Konversationsgruppe at Grosse Schanze
Parkterrasse Grosse Schanze, Parkterrasse, Bern, CHA Bern meetup group runs this German conversation evening. It has been meeting on the Parkterrasse above the station every Thursday.
It is an hour or two of speaking German out loud rather than a lesson, and the group states that all levels are welcome. Look for the red meetup sign on a table in front of the university building. If the whole point of your week is getting German out of your head and into your mouth, this is the cheapest way to do it.
