I have been kayaking in Island Lake State Recreation for 25 years, yet none of my boats have ever touched the waters of the lake the park is named after. Tonight, I aim to change that.
Join the Friends of Island Lake for a very casual paddle around the lake and the island itself. Being a lake paddle, you can tag along with the group, or head off on your own path. The point is to just be outside soaking in nature on a beautiful evening.
If you have interest, you are welcome to stay for the Friends meeting that starts at 7 at the Sycamore shelter, and we also will be happy to have you join us only for the paddle.
This is a bring your own boat, life jackets required, no intoxicants (other than nature) event. That said, you are the only one responsible for your safety.
If you are running late, just hop on the lake and paddle out to find us!
I may also hop on the lake after the meeting for a sunset paddle.
