That's pretty much the vibes of this group! Founded in 2019, We go against social norms by believing friends & a social life are a necessity. Life shouldn't be so serious all the time & you're never too old to dress up for a good theme party! Join us to reclaim your social life & explore Houston!
I’ve learned a lot about friendship and running a social group for the last 10+ years and I’m here to tell you these four things:
- It’s easy to meet new people and have a fun time socializing. It’s hard to make/maintain good friends that “get” you.
- Friendship is a lifelong journey. It takes time & dedication. Some people are for 50 years, some people are for 50 minutes.
- There’s a difference between friendship and a social life. Joining this group? That’s part of your social life.
- Meetup, Eventbrite, Facebook groups, TimeLeft, Sweat Pals, Your local run club: They get friendship & community wrong most of the time. These platforms are simply tools & resources to meet people. The friendship part? That's on each of us individually.
My goal in running this group is to be an authentic voice & space. Our social lives should be fun! I’m also a realist. We don’t have to sugar coat everything. You might come to an event and hate everyone. It happens. Events & networking can be draining. Let's just try to have a fun night a few times a month! If this all speaks to you, join us!
I hate to go against Mcconaughey's stance on rules but we got two of 'em:
1. This group is based on platonic friendship. Do NOT come with the intentions of dating. Don't make it weird
2. Let's be inclusive & accepting & chill. That said, not every event is necessarily for everyone. This is a mostly FREE group - your expectation should match that. Please respect our hosts & attendees.

We'll watch the game (hopefully together in section 114 row F) and can plan to meet after in EaDo for a post-game hang.

Chess & Happy Hour Social

It would be awesome to meet fellow Houstonians who are also trying to level up (be it a social life, skills, game knowledge, or just your iPhone Chess score)
This event is for anyone who wants to play a few rounds of Chess but mostly talk, eat, drink, and brag about how much better we are than those who are just talking, eating, and drinking. Event is 21+, all Chess levels welcome (but if you're an expert don't come in with high expectations! plz don't be so serious!)
Game Information:
I will provide two sets of Chess - we will take turns. You're welcome to bring a set as well. Checkers will also be provided bc it's less to think about! Ghost Tour Walk in The Heights - Dog Friendly!
Meeting Spot in The Heights, 139 E 20th Street, Houston, TX, USTurns out the best ghost detectives are probably our furry friends - they can spot (& sniff!) out anything! 👻 Join us for a haunted ghost tour walk in The Heights - friendly/leashed dogs welcome to come along! We will be hearing spooky ghost stories about the area from our fav ghost tour leader Ryan.
Tour starts at 7pm. We will meet in front of Hamilton Middle School on Heights Blvd. Walking distance will be about 1 mile total and span over 45 minutes to one hour. We will end in the same area we begin. Following the tour, attendees & dogs are welcome to join us for more socializing on the patio at Heights Bier Garten on 1433 N Shepherd.
