What we’re about
This group is to organise hiking daytrips from Geneva with a historical theme. I'm basing these on suggestions found in a local historical publication called Passé Simple. The hikes are meant to be reachable via public transport (Geneva train station) and of easy to medium difficulty (2 to 5 hours).
I'm not a professional guide, just an enthusiast :)

See all- From Vallorbe to the Romainmotiers Artisan MarketNeeds location
Hello!
Let’s meet this Sunday for a hike from Vallorbe to the artisan market in Romainmotiers! The abbey at Romainmotiers was founded around 450 and is a must-see when it comes to the region’s history. Every two years they have an artisan market, showcasing the local craft and skill in working with metal, pottery, wood, textiles, jewlery, etc. The next one is this Sunday, you can see more on https://sdr-romainmotier.ch/marche-artisanalLet’s meet at Vallorbe at 09:45. I’ll be on the Geneva leaving at 08:08, changing at Renens, if you wish to join me earlier. The hike takes us up a hill to the South and then down towards Vaulion village. We turn left just before reaching it to follow the wooded valley to the East along the small Nozon river.
We should get to Romainmotiers around 13:30, depending on how we walk. We can then enjoy the market and location, before walking the last part to Croy (some 40 mins) where we meet the train again. There is a bus service available if you don’t want to walk that last part. We should be at Croy around 16 to 16:30, depending.
As usual please come prepared for changes in weather and with water, snacks, etc, and make sure you are equipped for summer conditions (hat, sunscreen). I am not a professional guide and decline responsibility for any incident.
A detailed map and stats on the intended hike can be found here:
