What we’re about
Howdy. MJ here. I'm a Chicago fella now +21yrs in Sydneytown living in the CBD (Central Business District)... NOBODY knows Sydney better than I do, cause she's my girl / my lover... Cool bars. Amazing hikes. Great places to eat. Yup. I know it and love it all.
Let's share it together... Perhaps your style is:
*I like long walks on the beach... "*NO. That's so cliche on Bumble."
*I want to hike 30kms on rugged terrain... "*Nah. Too much."
*I want to do a pub crawl... "*F that. I'm too old."
Or?
"I fancy time in Mother Nature exploring beautiful hikes / walks in Sydney while meeting cool people. I want to check out some new bars and hydrate myself with a wine, beer or cocktail at the finale."
If the final statement suits your style??? Welcome to the group. Let's have some fun. See you soon! MJ

A Coastal Hike. Whales. Photography. A Puppy. And a beer.
This. Sounds. Goooooood. 18 and sunny the forecast!!!
Fuck me this rain! The trails will be absolutely soaked all weekend, so let’s do a classic with whale watching - adding my favourite Sydney photo gallery and a Bondi Beach pub and pup… Read on.
AQUABUMPS PHOTO GALLERY (my fav photo is that solo swimmer in Bondi)
Ever been? It’s a cool story. Eugene Tan is a local in Bondi… hobby photographer that took a pic or two that led to an e-newsletter that grew, grew, and grew. Now internationally renowned, he opened a Bondi Photo Gallery that is verrrrrryyyyy cool.
Let’s hike. Let’s stroll through Aquabumps, then let’s head to Beach Road Hotel in Bondi.
THE PUPPY.
“Do you like dahgs?” (Brad Pitt, “Snatch”). PABLO is my new Labrador pal. At 15weeks old, Pablo a chocolate chunk of chaos (he looooooves new people), and his Lab sisters Tulip and Peppi are loads of fun too. Well, they are right on the way in Tamarama Beach. If anybody fancies a puppy pat, we’ll pick them up for a quick 5minutes to say hello.
THE WHALES & THE HIKE.
Whales (+40,000) are coming south… last Saturday we saw one quite close by Dee Why Beach, then Sunday we saw plenty fully breaching, playing – so close we could see their white bellies. Unfortunately, we passed by a dead whale that washed ashore (story on Sunday). The Hike… you know it. It’s the classic. It’s beautiful. It’s social. It’s safe. It’s for all fitness levels:
Coogee Beach to Gordon’s Bay to Clovelly Beach to Waverly Cemetery to Bronte Beach, Mackenzies Bay, Tamarama Beach, then Bondi Beach. We’ll stretch it to 9.5kms so it’s a good day of exercise.
Post-hike, post-Aquabumps, we’ll head into Beach Road Hotel… big pub with pretty good food. Beer, rest, chat, relax, then retire. The 379 bus stop is directly across the street – 10min to Bondi Junction Station.
A hike. Whales. Ocean photography. A puppy! A beer. Maybe two.
See you for a relaxed Sunday. MJ

I love, love, love the sound of this trio of events:
a) Prior Saturday. Bouddi National Park is my favourite hike of 2024 (v1);

c) Woy Woy to Patonga Beach Hike & food / drinks at The Boat House Patonga is sooooo unforgettable (v3).In addition is this - the post-Boat House ferry from Patonga to Palm Beach is one of the prettiest ferry rides in all of New South Whales. The bus from Palm Beach heads south to Sydney from there. We can always make a stop at The Newport for more drinks.

This looks like such a lovely coastal hike... Woy Woy. Blackwall. Ettalong Beach. Umina Beach. Pretty Beach... then we climb to one of my favourite spots in the Central Coast. Pearl Caves down to Patonga Beach will provide some of the best views of the 3 Events. Stunnnnnning and all the way to Palm Beach. The climb down is pretty steep, and the food / drinks at The Boat House Patonga will be special.THE OTHER STUFF.

See you soon. MJ - Waterfall, Water Hole & Pub! Royal National Park ULOOLA FALLS 12kms HIKE!Waterfall Rail Station, Waterfall
Within the next month we’ve got a pub crawl, coastal walks galore with wine and whales… even a hike to a yacht party (may the [hiking] gods help us). With this event, let’s get into the park – THE ROYAL NATIONAL PARK – the 2nd oldest National Park in the world. I love a newbie hike / pub, I love a train station to train station event, and I love waterfalls, greenery, and natural pools mixed in between this 12kms session.
WATERFALL STATION to ULOOLA FALLS, 6kms
“A perfect day trip from Sydney, Uloola walking track is a long but picturesque walk through the waterfalls, wildflowers and sandstone formations of Royal National Park. You won’t believe this long walk is only an hour from the centre of Sydney. Uloola walking track meanders through the picturesque highlands of Royal National Park, and you’ll soon forget you’re so close to civilisation.”ULOOLA FALLS / KARLOO POOL to HEATHCOATE STATION, 6kms
We’ll stop for a snack (swim too?) at the waterfall / Karloo Pool – some call it the best secret swimming hole in all of Sydney. From here it’s a 6kms bush hike with some ascent through the lovely RNPark to Heathcoate Station.12kms in total – 3 to 4hrs to hike it. Pub after? Yeah let’s do it (optional of course). The Heathcoate Hotel is right there… let’s roll in with tired legs and a thirst for alcohol to “cheers” to our adventure.
THE OTHER STUFF
