Edmonton Hiking For Fitness "No Show" policy:
Hikers with 1 "no show" will be sent a warning message which will require a response within 24 hours. If no response is received hiker will be removed from the group. Maximum amount of "no shows" is 2. Hikers with 2 "no shows" will be removed from the group. "No shows" can be excused by contacting the organizer (Ed) within 24 hours of the "no show".
This is in fairness to the many (and majority) of excellent hikers that belong to the EHF.
The EHF Hike rating system:
A = 4-5 kph, with rest stops
B = 5-6 kph, minimal stops or nonstop
C = uncategorized (Hors catégorie) Hardest hike due to fast pace and difficult terrain or other difficult conditions rather than speed alone.
1 = mostly level terrain with few obstacles.
2 = mostly hilly terrain with many obstacles.
Obstacles = Steep hills, foliage, fallen trees, mud, roots etc.
As a rule of thumb:
A2 hike is twice as hard as a A1.
B2 hike is twice as hard as a B1.
C2 is twice as hard as a B2.
When in doubt hikers should gain experience by taking the levels in order: A1, A2, B1, B2, C2.
