What we’re about
We are a group of nice and cheerful people who like to be active in the outdoors. We meet for hikings and other outdoor sports in and around Hamburg and in Northern Germany. We are of all ages and come from many countries, are open minded, friendly and always interested in meeting new people. Join Hamburg Hikers if you are new to Hamburg, if you want to get to know the Hamburg area and its people better or just if you like hiking with a group. Attending is free for all events! (... but you may incur costs for your tickets, admission, food and drinks.)
If you have an idea for an event, please give notice and become an organizer of Hamburg Hikers! It's easy and you define all conditions for your event: the sporting level, the distance, the pace, the duration, the supporting program, group size, language of the event description and everything else that is important for you. Just make sure your event somehow matches the groups purpose and that it is non commercial. And give the participants a fair description about what to expect. If you have an idea for an event but are afraid to organize, please send a message to Lutz or talk to him on a hike.
The annual fees for this group are around 240€ per year, depending on the dollar exchange rate. If you would like to support us, you can help us a lot with a donation via Paypal to https://paypal.me/lbrck
Release of Liability: All events of Hamburg Hikers are private gatherings organized by volunteers, not by professionals. Everyone participates at their own risk and takes full responsibility for their own safety. By signing up for an event, the member acknowledges that he/her is aware and has made his/her guests aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with any outdoor activity and freely accept, fully assume and tries to avoid all such risks, dangers and hazards. The member and guests further agree to release and discharge the organizer from and against any and all liability arising from his/her and his/her guest's participation in the event activities.
We're looking forward to having you in the group!

Route
Schnatermann - Postwiese - Radewiese - Torfbrücke beach - Graal - "Rostock-Torfbrücke" (DB)The Rostocker Heide is a large forest at the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. One of the highlights is the Torfbrücke beach where this forest clashes with the Baltic Sea which is rougher here than at the Schleswig-Holstein coast. I like also very much the huge reed areas along our route.
The idea is not to walk slowly but to take long breaks, maybe one when we reach the beach and another before we leave. Swimming is possible.
The event begins in Warnemünde and ends in Rostock. I suggest to embed this hike in a long weekend from Friday to Sunday at the Baltic Sea. But it is not completely impossible to arrive from Hamburg or/and to return to Hamburg on Saturday. See the accommodation options and the time tables for more information.
In order to give those more time who want to book an accommodation, joining this hike will work as follows:
- The number of participants will be limited to 12.
- First, there will be only a wait list.
- When you have booked something, send me a message and you will be pulled in - up to the limit, regardless of your position on the wait list.
- In June, the remaining spots will be assigned to others already on the wait list.
- After that, still remaining spots will become available for joining as usual.
Please note:
- If you are not at the boat on time, there is no possibility to join the hike.
- With respect to bookings: it cannot be guaranteed that the hike will take place. Of course, it will be cancelled only for a good reason. And I think, even in that case it should be easy to have a nice day there.
