0x26 Wellington Meetup at KPMG on Breaking Bad Routers
KPMG, Level 6, 44 Bowen Street, Wellington, NZWe’re excited to bring another interactive Hack the Box (HTB) meetup to Wellington! Our speaker for this event is MrBruh who will be presenting the talk: "Breaking Bad Routers: 6 Vendors, 6 Shells, 0 Days".
He started 2026 with a simple question: are consumer routers actually secure? To find out, he audited firmware from six major vendors, and the results were worse than expected.
This research yielded 28 distinct vulnerabilities across the board, culminating in Remote Code Execution (RCE) against every vendor he tested, including TP-Link, Netgear, Linksys and Motorola.
In this talk, he will cover the discovery of these vulnerabilities, the disclosure process for each, and their overall impact for end users.
