What we’re about

We're hoping to connect a group of 40/50 somethings in the Greater Portland/mid coast area who enjoy food, drink and the outdoors. It feels like the 20-30 somethings have a lot going on and so do the retirees, so how about us?!

We are fortunate to be surrounded with nearly endless opportunities to connect in and with nature, whether it's hiking, dog walking, strolling the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, snow shoeing, cross country skiiing, ice skating... you name it. And Portland and the surrounding area is an awesome locale for the foodies among us who love great restaurants and inspiration/ingredients for cooking. Not to mention a vibrant craft beer scene and cool cocktail spots that are ideal for socializing. If any/all of it sounds like you, come join us for some meet ups. Looking forward to getting to know you!

With outdoor events, you are responsible for preparing yourself for the elements (dressing for the weather, choosing suitable footwear, wearing sunscreen and bug protection, etc.) and staying aware of your surroundings.

Winter Bowling at Bayside Bowl

Join us for a fun night of bowling at Bayside Bowl in downtown Portland. While the Big Lebowski won't be joining us, I'm sure the conversations will be just as interesting and entertaining. Beginners and experts welcome!

"Bayside Bowl is located in downtown Portland, Maine. [They] take [their] bowling seriously and have 20 USBC sanctioned lanes of ten-pin bowling, as well as award-winning food and craft cocktails."

**NOTE: I'm reserving two lanes for two hours, so the cost to rent each lane (6 people per lane) and rent shoes is approximately $21 per person if we fill both lanes. I'm starting with two lanes, but If we get up to 24 confirmed attendees, I will add two more lanes. So sign up, even if there's a wait list.

GenX Connects: 3rd Anniv Happy Hour at Rising Tide!

Let's celebrate "GenX Connects...over food, drink & the outdoors" back where it all got started! Our inaugural event was a happy hour at Rising Tide on Feb 3, 2023, and we will return there again to raise a glass to fun and friendship over the group's first 3 years. This casual setting will give us a chance to meet or catch up with fellow members, socialize, and talk about potential new events for 2026.

Rising Tide has a fantastic selection of their own craft beers, as well as wine, cider, hard seltzer, non-alcoholic beverages, and food on offer. Everyone is responsible for running their own tabs for food & drink. The location is convenient to 295 and has its own parking lot (free, and there is additional parking on surrounding streets).
