Shofar at the Lake: Rosh Hashanah by the Water at Longwood Park
Longwood Park, Longwood Park 100–108 Pearl Nix Pkwy, Gainesville, GA, USA short outdoor gathering for the Jewish New Year, right at the water's edge in Longwood Park.
We will hear the shofar, a ram's horn sounded on Rosh Hashanah. It's a raw, unpolished sound that's been used the same way for thousands of years, and hearing it outdoors by the lake hits differently than hearing it in a room. Then we do Tashlich, a short prayer said near flowing water where you symbolically let go of the past year's mistakes and start clean.
The whole thing runs under an hour. Great if you have young kids, if you couldn't make morning services, or if you've never done any of this and want a low-pressure way in.
Free and open to everyone.
