What we’re about

This is a social group for youthful peeps in their 50s, 60s, and beyond. We are interested in forming quality friendships through mingling, dining, picnics, happy hours . . . and more creative fun! We are NOT a group that does speed-dating events, etc. We have mostly singles in our group but do allow exceptions, because, let's face it, singles have a different lifestyle than couples.

The group is kept small for two straightforward reasons:
1. An event will not fill up as quickly (as a group having, say, 300 members).
2. A smaller group allows for personalization and a feeling of unity.

Also, Meetup seems to attract more women than men; unfortunately, this means there is a waitlist for women to join the group. We try to keep an even number of men & women in the group so it doesn't become the "Female Friends & Five Men" Meetup.😁.

Please notice that you have 30 days to try out our group events for free before being asked to pay a simple annual membership fee of $8 via Stripe, or you can pay the Organizer, Simone, in person at an event. This money covers the $200 yearly fee that Meetup charges to keep the group alive. In this way, we all have some ownership in our group, and those that are not involved will leave to make room for new members on the waitlist.

CANCELLATION POLICY
We realize that ‘life happens’: work goes longer than expected; you don’t feel well; you forgot; you are low energy, etc. We are all human, and not everything is black & white; however, there must be natural consequences in place so that we are respectful to members who do not have a habit of canceling.

Three (3) cancellations less than 24 hours in advance or no-shows:

You will be suspended from attending the next three (3) events – even if there are openings. (These events do not include outdoor concerts or (Circle) theater happenings.

OR

· Get Out of Jail Free: Call for reservations, set up, and Host TWO Restaurant Meetups within two months from your third cancellation. (This means you will not be suspended from any events but are choosing this consequence instead.)

· Simone will text you at some point following any cancellation (less than 24 hrs) and will provide your current “tally” of cancellations.

· If you have a suspension, your tallies will clear back to zero (0).

· Each recorded cancellation will clear after six months and be wiped off your slate.

WAITLIST:
· As the event approaches, please remove yourself from the Wait List if you no longer can attend.
· If you are moved from the Wait List to Going, Simone will reach out to confirm (unless it’s two-ish hours right before the event’s start time.)

Guest Policy:
Members are NOT allowed to bring guests - no matter who is hosting the event. This guest policy is in place so that paying members have first dibs to events, and they are not waitlisted because nonmembers are taking open spots. (Sidenote: if an event does not fill, guests will sometimes be allowed.)
