Behind the Stars: The Remarkable Women Who Helped Build Chicago
Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S Prospect Ave, Elmhurst, IL, USThe stars on the Chicago flag represent four major events that changed the city forever. Laurie Russell examines how women responded to these events, and in the process, built the city we know today through their work on the Underground Railroad, building hospitals and schools, contributing to the arts, and creating the progressive club movement.
